One of the biggest surprises of this month’s fashion week in Copenhagen was the sightings of flip flops everywhere. The $28 Havaiana thong made a cool come back, and influencers, stylists and fashion editors provided the best street style inspiration as they sported these comfy slip ons with everything from flowy dresses to bias cut skirts to colorful wide leg trousers.
During a trip to visit family in Brazil a few years ago, I stocked up on Havaianas of all colors; I brought home at least 15 pairs, no joke, and have been wearing them ever since. This time around, it’s more about wearing them in the city with your stylish outfits, unlike before when we wore them to the beach or the pool. They might not measure up to the seen-on-everyone Hermès slide, but right now it’s all about the comfy, humble flip flop!
