Get ready for a sunny vacation!

Sunny vacation: Melissa Obodash coverup | La Blanca white swimsuit | Sam Edelman sandals | Loewe tote | Brinker & Eliza bracelet

Get ready for a sunny vacation! ☀️

Every year it happens around this time of year, I start dreaming about sun and warm weather vacations! Since I live in the PNW, the winters around here are a little … dreary (an understatement). By the time January rolls around, a little dose of sunshine is desperately needed ☀️ Thankfully, this year we snuck in a Mexico trip just before the holidays. It’s an easy 4 hour plane ride, and landing in a sunny tropical area is so dreamy! We stayed at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, which is a beautiful resort in Cabo. We planned to play pickleball everyday, which didn’t happen — much to my husband’s dismay! Instead, we laid around the pool sipping cocktails and talking, which is my idea of perfection 😊

Since many of us do have upcoming sunny vacations planned, I’ve decided to share some brand new finds. Before we left I managed to score a few things for my trip, but of course the minute I came back home I found so much more! This is the time of year when resort wear arrives in stores, and it’s a great time to grab something that catches your eye. Keep reading to see what I found for you, and happy vacation planning!

P.S. If you’re new around here and want to stay up to date on new arrivals and all things stylish, then subscribe to my blog and never miss a post! You’ll also receive my Saturday Newsletter which has special finds that are not on the blog and are only for subscribers. I also post on the LTK shopping app. It’s an efficient, quick way to find what you’re looking for. Recently they added notifications and comments, which are both great new features. Check out my page here and let me know what you think. Cheers!🥂

San José del Cabo

Las Ventanas al Paraiso

We sat in these chairs most days, and it was fun to people watch, chat, eat lunch poolside and sip yummy cocktails. For breakfast, we sat in the covered area in the above photo. One the days, Em spotted a very stylish woman with pointy toe flats walk in and sit right behind us. Shortly thereafter, we realized it was Anine Bing! Her Instagram confirmed she was celebrating her birthday with girlfriends at Las Ventanas. It was kind of a thrill 😉

Travel outfit: what to wear from cold weather to sunny weather

Frank & Eileen fleece jacket | ATM t-shirt | Paige jeans | Earrings | Celine sunglasses | Naghedi tote | Scarf | Belt bag | Jewelry travel case | Anine Bing bb hat | Monos luggage | Nike sneakers

I can’t say enough good things about this fleece jacket — it’s comfortable and perfect for travel. And, I always bring an ATM t-shirt because it’s pretty much the perfect layering tee. When flights are on the shorter side, I always wear jeans (it adds an extra pair to the rotation). The Paige Cindy is a go-to since it’s a slim, straight leg jean that works nicely with sandals and sneakers.

When it comes to bags, the Naghedi tote is a favorite, and this new color goes perfectly with these new Nike sneakers. I brought these on my recent trip because they’re comfortable, and the soft pink is pretty and quite versatile. If you don’t own a lululemon belt bag, I tell all my friends to RUN and get one. I bring mine on every single trip and find myself wearing it often. So handy!

I recommend this scarf all the time, and after 4 years of taking it on almost every vacation, I can honestly say it’s the best scarf I’ve ever owned! Give it a try if you haven’t already.

Sunny Vacation dresses

Left: Anthropologie dress | Larroude sandals | Right: Frank & Eileen dress | Havaianas | Naghedi tote

Anthropologie dresses are the best, and this one is available in other colors here. I shared a couple more in this recent Reels video, including this strapless knit one. The Frank & Eileen Mary dress is another dress I bring on every single trip. It’s perfect for wearing around the resort or running errands on warm weather days.

Stylish Swimsuits

Left: J.Crew beach shirt | Blue swimsuit, similar | YSL tote | Right: One shoulder swimsuit

First, the basics: Everyone should own a white and black swimsuit, along with a white and black coverup. I know this sounds kind of boring, but trust me, you’ll always feel good in them and your other coverup options are endless.

Favorites: I love this one-piece by La Blanca, and this and this from J.Crew. Lately, I’ve preferred one-piece styles and thankfully they happen to be super stylish right now! Learn from me, and check the back view of the swimsuit. I’ve ordered a couple recently that show back rolls, which is a no-go of course 😉 I’m on the hunt for ones that have no cut-outs and come up a little higher in the back.

My favorite coverups

Left: L-Space coverup | YSL bag | Havaianas | Right: J.Crew white beach shirt | Robin Piccone Ava one-piece | Hat

When it comes to coverups, I’ve brought this beach shirt on every single trip for at least five years! I also like this longer style from L-Space. Once you have the essentials, it’s easier to branch out to fun colors and prints and find something you absolutely love. Coverups are perfect for sunny vacations since they can be work pool- or beachside, but also out to lunch or dinner with sandals.

Travel outfit option

Spanx jumpsuit | Monos luggage | Sam Edelman sandals

I wore this Spanx jumpsuit (part of the AirEssentials collection) out to dinner — the weather had cooled off, and it was perfect. It was also comfortable — it’s a piece you’ll wear non-stop into the new year.
