After years of working at Nordstrom as a buyer and personal stylist, I learned one thing early on: your basics have to be covered first. The trick is finding pieces that check every box: versatile enough to make multiple outfits, easy to wear across seasons, and stylish enough that you actually reach for them. Great outfits don’t need to be boring, so remember to find the special pieces that truly take your closet to the next level.

Why I chose it: Sometimes the jacket is the outfit, and this red plaid jacket is a standout piece you’ll wear all season – plus the price isn’t too crazy! Tweed jacket with removable fur collar
Why I chose it: The Nordstrom label is looking so good lately, and this jacket caught my eye! The collar is removable, the color is so pretty, and the outfit possibilities are endless. Plus it’s well priced. I scoured the internet looking for a bag, and was pretty excited when I found this new Strathberry one. The color is really pretty and you can see how well it goes with lots of different outfits.

Why I chose it: A soft white blazer is a wardrobe staple that works any time of year, and Reiss is a great brand that everyone likes. The fit is really good, and quite often you can find petite sizes on their website. Wearing a blazer over a slipdress is always chic, and this Vince dress is an all-time favorite (they recently updated the neckline and straps).

Why I chose it: Animal print is having a moment right now, and this coat nearly stopped me in my tracks! It’s one of those pieces you can wear with a matching set and sneakers or over a really fancy dress. Bambi print is so cool right now – I have antelope carpet in my closet, which is really similar, and I still love five years later!

Why I chose it: Everyone needs a black coat (or navy) and this one can be easily substituted for something different. I just happened to like the removable fur collar! Wear it with jeans, dresses, skirts pants – you can make so many different outfits. I also think adding a knee boot is a good idea – it’s an easy way to elevate skirts and dresses, and if you wear tights, you can be warm and cozy when it’s cold.
