Here’s how to level up your wardrobe!

Recently, someone asked me “how should I prioritize my purchases when (re)building a wardrobe?” What a great question! And, I quickly thanked her for the blog post topic (which I wrote about here). You see, what I learned over a decade of helping women one-on-one is that we often buy things that don’t actually make outfits. This got me thinking about the fact that building a wardrobe takes time. It starts with owning the right essentials, filling in what you need, and then of course, adding the fun pieces that really make it yours.

Today’s post is part 2 of a two-part series on how to build the perfect wardrobe. In other words, this is how to incorporate trendy, stylish pieces that take your wardrobe to a completely new level. These are often the items we actually buy first because, after all, they’re way more fun to purchase! Keep reading for some new and exciting arrivals that pair perfectly with the essentials you probably already own. 🙂

Prioritize your purchases in 2024

Skinny jeans are out, here’s what to wear in 2024!

The hottest trend seen everywhere in LA

The essentials

Favorite staples I wear over and over again: J.Crew cardigan, Norma Kamali dress, Veronica Beard blazer and the black Kayla shirt

Red everything!

Right now red is trending, and it’s color that will continue through the rest of this year. You can go all out and try a great red dress like this one, or you can just add a little touch with a great shoe or handbag. The color red will definitely level up your wardrobe, and it’s an easy color to incorporate.

Graphic tees

We all love a good graphic t-shirt, and they really work magic on your outfits! Tees by Anine Bing are among my favorites. I own three of them, and have worn them all non-stop for several years. You don’t need too many; just a couple that work with all the things you already own. Wear them under blazers, shirt jackets and denim jackets — they’ll level up any outfit you wear.

Touches of leopard print

Lately I’ve been seeing leopard print everywhere! Just recently, on the cover article for Who What Wear, there was an old photo of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in a classic outfit (of course) with a touch of leopard. So chic. This is a trend that will also continue on, and I can’t think of better piece to add to our closets. I currently have my eye on these Gucci slingbacks.

Cool jackets

One can never have too many jackets!! They go with all your staples, and are truly the best investment piece for your wardrobe. Pretty much any jacket you purchase will level up your outfit game. I love this Anine Bing camel wrap coat, and depending on the climate where you live, a fun jacket like this will make many stylish outfits.

Stripes are timeless

Stripes are timeless, and always remind me of French girl style. Make them look more modern by wearing a striped shirt with flare jeans and a sweater over it. Whether it’s a fun sweater or a striped tee, you’ll have these pieces forever because they never go out of style. There are many great pieces, and I’m sharing them all below.

Not basic shoes

Once you have the basics covered, specifically neutral shoes that work with everything, then adding a fun shoe you love is a great idea. It really makes you feel extra stylish and modern!
