Do you want to make your outfits look expensive? Here’s how …
I’ve been writing more than usual because of the NSale, and I tell my friends and family this is the equivalent of Christmas when it comes to shopping 😂 But I’ll be back to the regular posting schedule soon. I have a series called “As of Late …” where I’ll be sharing a little bit of everything related to lifestyle, food, travel, design, and — of course — fashion! Stay tuned, can’t wait to share it all with you 🤍
Today’s post asks the question: do you want to make your outfits look expensive? After all, most of us love a deal, and we take the opportunity to elevate our look whenever we can. So, here are 7 tips on how to do this. And, many of the items are part of the NSale!
There are certain pieces that instantly add sophistication and elegance to any outfit, and while they don’t have to cost a lot, it doesn’t hurt if they look expensive. As a matter of fact, there are many great pieces that feel “designer” but actually cost a fraction of the price. Combining those pieces successfully is the art of high/low dressing, and chances are many of the fashion girls that catch your eye on Instagram or Pinterest have this mastered!

#1 Camel
Which color instantly adds sophistication and elegance to any outfit? Camel! No matter the time of year, camel always elevates your look. For example, this oversized cardigan is perfect to add to your wardrobe right now. If you prefer to not wear camel around your face, try a trouser like this style.

#2 All black
All black. It always, always elevates. Your outfit will appear more elegant and expensive, even if you scored a deal. Wear it any time of year; it looks great with literally everything! Here are some favorite staples I highly recommend.
#3 Faux leather
Faux leather is a wardrobe classic at this point, and good faux can easily pass for real leather but at a fraction of the cost. For example, I’m loving this puffer jacket, and this belted vest style as well. Find a piece or two you love and wear it all the time — you’ll definitely look stylish! And honestly, these days you’d never know faux leather isn’t the real thing.

#4 Blazers
A blazer (regular or oversized) is the finishing piece to many stylish outfits, so think of it more like a jacket. Wear a blazer with a tee and denim shorts, with all your favorite jeans, and over dresses too. So chic!

#5 Current denim — get the look
Denim has been a specialty of mine for over two decades, and I believe that investing in a few go-to styles is the key to making all your outfits work. Pro tip: Make sure the wash and fit is current. Try dressing up your favorite denim by adding a blazer and strappy sandals — an easy combo that always looks good together. Every day new styles roll in, and the brands I always gravitate towards are Frame, Mother, Paige, and AG.

#6 Elevated accessories
You really don’t need to spend a lot to get a really nice belt, a stylish handbag, or trendy jewelry. Accessories complete your outfit and make you feel put-together and ready to go! Pick up some new accessories to update your fall wardrobe, like this tote. It’s a great piece that makes a big difference 😉
