Read This Before You Start Shopping for Fall!
Every year, the minute September rolls around, I always set some time aside to work on my own closet. It’s one of those things I think we should all do – kind of like a closet clean-out that will help you feel ready for the season ahead. It’s truly one of the best things you can do for yourself! It also allows you to see what might be missing, and then it’s way easier to start making a list. It’s something I recommend to everyone, and this little reset always sets a tone for the whole season
Today’s post is packed with some of my best recent tips to help you start thinking about your fall wardrobe. From the loafers everyone is wearing right now, to 5 easy outfit uniforms worth copying, plus new finds I think you’ll love. Keep reading to see everything I recommend before you shop this fall!

I’m heading to NYC next week, so I’ve been doing lots of buying and returning! Here are some brand new things I’m excited about – and ones I highly recommend. Just bought this Staud black cotton dress, and wore last week to a business meeting in Dallas – got lots of compliments! This Rails plaid jacket is so chic, and I plan on wearing it on the airplane with these navy Lodge pants. These new Frame jeans are SO slimming – and if you use my discount code SUSIE15, you’ll get 15% off any purchase you make. Also bought this pretty new blouse that looks really nice with the jeans.

The secret to feeling put-together every single day is to have several outfit combinations that just work. I’m talking about simple concepts, like a jean and go-with-everything shoe, matching your top and jacket, and of course, choosing the all-important accessories that bring your outfit together. A few of these things might surprise you! Many of us have these exact style and beauty finds (and it’s ok if you still love them). For example, the Donna Karan deodorant started giving me a headache, so I swapped it for another one. I also stopped wearing uncomfortable thong panties and tight leggings. A few of these were harder to let go of than others … but the second I made the switch, I instantly felt more comfortable, more youthful, and more confident. I know purchasing online is tricky, and relying on reviews can be hit or miss. Hopefully this post will give you some new ideas you might be excited to try!

Once the weather changes, and sandal season is over, the easiest shoe to start wearing is a cool, classic loafer. It’s the perfect shoe to transition when we’re not quite ready for boots. Here are some that I highly recommend:
1 – Classic black slim loafers – Love this classic Vince pair and these new ones from Favorite Daughter
2 – YSL-inspired ruched loafers – Saw this pair at Zara and they are only $60! This mule style from Vince is another great option!
3 – Shades of brown suede loafers – Spotted this pair from Veronica Beard and these chocolate brown ones from Rag & Bone
4 – Snake or leopard loafers – How fun are these ones from J.Crew and this Rag & Bone pair
5 – Soft white and ivory loafers – Love this loafer from Black Suede Studio and these soft white ones
