The Easy Outfit Formula That Always Works!

The other day, I decided to analyze my own closet, and while I love jeans (so much!), I realized there’s one piece that I come back to every single time: a black pant of some kind. It’s hard to believe that for my entire adult life, I’ve been wearing some variation of black pants – whether it’s a jeans or leggings, trousers or knit pants. There’s just something that always works with a great black pant. A handful of months ago I read a Who What Wear article about every stylish wearing an elevated black pant trend, and I was immediately intrigued!

Today’s post is all about how to style black pants in a modern way. I’m highlighting the black pants I highly recommend – including the Vince Pintuck ones that fit so beautifully, and the pull-on pants everyone is talking about. Keep reading for street style inspo and a few styling ideas that are perfect for this fall and beyond. I hope you find this post helpful!

Loving the purple trend so much, and it looks so great with black

The Black Pants I Highly Recommend

1. Vince Pintuck pants – Vince is always a great option, and these Italian cotton-wool stretch pants fit nicely and work with everything from a travel outfit to a night out (add a strappy sandal). I’ve owned these for several years — I took a size small, and had them shortened.

2. Aritzia Lodge pants – These are my favorite pants that I grab when I want to be stylish and comfortable. If you only try one pair, make it the crepette ones. My second choice would be the satin ones – they can be dressed up or down – think satin for everyday.

3. La Ligne Colby pants – If you want a more elevated pull on black pant, this is the one that everyone loves. There’s no tie, which makes it a little cleaner, and they also work any time of year.

4. Paige Cindy jeans – The biggest, most welcomest (!) suprise is that slim, straight leg jeans are back, and I couldn’t be happier! They’re super slimming, and work with pretty much every kind of shoe in your closet. If you still have these, time to pull them back out 🙂

5. Frame Knit wide-leg pants – There’s something so great about knit pants, and these are so flattering and you’ll wear them all year long. Use my code: SUSIE15 to get 15% off your order.

6. Aritzia Effortless trousers – I’ve owned these for years, and they really are some of the best trousers out there! They come in lots of colors, as well as tall and petite lengths. The fabric doesn’t wrinkle, and they perfect all year long.
