These Fall Items Will Make Any Outfit Look *Richer*
One of my favorite things to do is work on articles for Who What Wear, and you can imagine how honored I am when asked for my “advice” on fashion and styles. My partnership with WWW is over four years old now, and I continue to be extremely proud to be affiliated with them. Recently, my friend and Senior Editor Bobby Schuessler asked me which pieces I gravitate towards that make my outfits look more expensive. You can read the article here: “I’m A Former Nordstrom Buyer – These Fall Items Will Make Any Outfit Look “Richer.”
So, here’s the thing: expensive-looking pieces don’t need to actually be expensive! In today’s post, I’ve zeroed in on 7 ways you can elevate your outfits, and there are options at all price points. For example, the color camel always elevates whatever else you’re wearing, and same with faux leather. Remember to focus on items you truly love and feel good in. In my opinion, it’s actually better to have fewer pieces … but ones that you selected and really excited to wear. This makes getting dressed so much much easier!
P.S. Today’s post is a recap from my latest WWW article. Remember, when the article first appears in WWW, the clothing selections are made by Bobby and his team (he also chooses the title). But, when I recap the article, the items shared are MY picks. I hope you like them!

1. Anything Camel

Camel is a classic color that is always in style and always looks chic. This season, consider blazers, coats, sweaters and accessories. Earthy and warm, the color camel makes any outfit look more luxurious.
2. Longline Coat

Look for a wool coat that has a blind seam, also known as double-faced wool. It’s a detail that makes the coat look way more expensive than it is! You can find a great wool coat at any price point, and you’ll wear it for many winter seasons to come. This is one of my highest recommendations for a coat that elevates your outfit.
3. Dark Denim

Dark denim always looks sophisticated, and it happens to be trending this season. I recommend longer lengths in either wider leg styles or flares. You’ll wear them with everything (sweaters, blouses, blazers, and more), and you’ll look a little extra polished.
4. Stylish Blazer
Cinq a Sept hoodie blazer | ATM tee | Boots | Naghedi tote
Blazers do not need to be expensive — just find a classic style you love that fits well. It’s one of the fall items that will pull all your outfits together. Pair with shorter skirts and denim, and wear over dresses as well. This piece is here to stay!
5. Monochromatic Colors
Aritzia jacket and trousers | Smocked tank | Sparkle heels
Whether you choose all black or navy or even a lighter shade (like what I’m wearing above), going monochromatic head to toe is always chic. And, the pieces don’t need to be expensive to pull off an elegant outfit. Add great accessories and your favorite jewelry, and you’ll be ready for any event!
6. Faux Leather
Faux leather shirt jacket, similar | Spanx pants | Sandals | Tote
Faux-leather pieces are everywhere right now, with good reason. It’s super soft and can easily pass as the real thing! It’s one of the fall items that is a true “must-have.” Try a cool wide-leg pant in faux leather, or a jacket of any kind. It gives off a rich look ,,, without the price tag.
7. Trench Coats

A cool-girl classic that always looks elevated and stylish, trench coats don’t need to be expensive — as long as they have the features you’re looking for. I’m wearing an Orolay one that I’ve had going on three seasons. It’s super comfortable, and it’s under $100! It made it onto my recent Absolute Favorites list, so you know it’s good.
