Absolute Favorites I Highly Recommend – Winter 2024
Since we’re about to begin gift-giving season, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some absolute favorites for winter that I highly recommend. This is one of my very favorite posts to write, because I love sharing items that are tried and true (in my opinion). My goal is to keep you all in the know! Of course, I follow my “authenticity promise” whenever I write anything for So Susie. I’m always honest, and I only share things that I own, have tried on myself or have helped clients purchase. In other words, you can trust my recommendations.
Truth is, there’s barely enough time in the day to explore everything I love, so I try to be very selective about what is featured here on the blog. I’m always on the lookout for new things – it’s what makes a wardrobe more interesting! So, grab a cup of tea (or a glass of wine 😉) and settle in. This post is a little long, but hopefully it’ll inspire you to get ready to look stylish this winter!

The Mother jean that fits everyone. If you want a comfortable, super flattering jean, this is the one to consider. They fit everyone, including those of us who are 5’4″ and under, thanks to petite sizing. They look great with every kind of shoe, from sneakers to higher heels to winter boots.
The other super stylish Frame jean everyone is wearing! Wide-leg jeans are the “it” jean to own right now, and this is the one that everyone is loving. Sometimes wide-leg jeans can be a little tricky to wear, but these aren’t too wide. They’re flattering through the hip/bottom area, and are also available in petite sizing here and here. I’ve talked about them for the last year, and they’re still one of my absolute highest recommendations. The TikTok viral sweatpant jean. I know this sounds crazy, but the Miramar collection at Rag & Bone has the best-selling “jeans” around, and everyone is talking about them! They’re super comfy and run roomy, but once you find your size, you’ll likely go back for a second pair … they’re that good! The travel jeans that are so comfy, you won’t believe it. For super cool airport style, give these jeans a try. The best lightweight puffer jacket you’ll ever own. No joke, I wear this every other day this time of year … all the way through May! I take it on every airplane trip, and because it’s thin, you can tie it around your waist if you get too hot. I went with a size small so I could layer a hoodie or a thin sweater underneath.
The trench coat under $100 that’s sooo good. This relaxed trench has been my go-to for the past three years, and for the $99 price tag, it’s worth every penny. It’s slightly oversized, and can be worn with everything from striped sweaters and denim to dresses and skirts. The must-have cashmere hoodie. If there’s one sweater I recommend to everyone, it’s THIS cashmere hoodie. It’s the one I grab over and over again — it’s an absolute favorite! Not only is it super comfy, it also layers under every jacket. That includes a Moncler puffer, the Orolay trench, longer wrap coats, casual jackets … you get the idea! The best basic long-sleeved t-shirt. This one is so good, you might wonder how you lived without it this long. According to lululemon, “this lightweight, everyday top has just the right softness, the right stretch, and a snug fit that feels like a second skin.” I 100% agree, and think It’s the perfect layering piece. It adds a layer of warmth when you need it. Once I was in Palm Springs and I froze at night, and literally wore this top every day for a week under a cashmere sweater! I can’t recommend it enough. Get it as a gift for everyone in your family, they’ll love it. The stylish boot that elevates your winter outfits. I literally can’t imagine a wardrobe without these boots. They’re the perfect heel height, super flattering on your feet, and they’ll make all your denim outfits that much more cool. Check out all the colors here — you can’t go wrong with any of them. I rarely say this, but this is possibly the one boot you could own in two colors! It’s an absolute fave.The $50 Cashmere sweater – yep, $50. I know, I keep talking about this sweater — but hear me out. At first, I was skeptical of a $50 cashmere sweater. I thought to myself … there’s no way it could be that good! Then I tried it, and wow have I been impressed. On a recent LA trip, we had cooler weather and I wore it 6 days in a row, I’m not kidding. To my surprise, it held up beautifully! For really helpful cashmere care instructions, make sure to check out the website. And, while you’re at it, I recommend you stock up on ivory, gray, black, and maybe a faded blue one too.

The splurge necklace you’ll love forever. I’ve worn this tennis necklace every day for the last year. Mine is 16″ and has a 3″ diamond segment. It’s sparkly and beautiful, and layers perfectly with every other necklace you wear. It is a splurge, I know, but it’s one of those pieces you’ll love (and wear) for years to come. Think about adding it to your Christmas wish list 🌟
The tote seen on every cool girl! A couple of years ago on a Paris trip, I stood in an hour-long line to purchase this tote. And, can you believe when I finally got inside, I didn’t see a color I liked and left empty handed! Fast forward to this past year, when I spotted the pretty green color and decided to take the plunge. And I don’t regret it. It’s durable and easy to pack, and if you add this Amazon organizer, it gives the bag a little structure. I went with the smaller size, but you can’t go wrong with the small or the large. There are many options at Fashionphile, which is a luxury bag pre-owned website. It’s reputable, and associated with Neiman Marcus. La Femme Underwire T-Shirt Bra. If you’re looking for a bra that works a little magic, this is the one. A while back, a dear friend sheepishly asked if I had gotten a boob job 😂 No, I didn’t, but this bra makes you look like you did. It gives you an amazing lift, it’s pretty and comfortable, and I highly recommend it! The luxurious silk robe under $200. There’s nothing better than feeling a little extra in the morning when getting ready for your day. A silk robe will do that, and this washable one is hands down a favorite! My daughter and sister-in-law love it too. It makes the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one. The softest blanket that everyone in the family will love — guys too! This blanket is a favorite. My boys each have one, and they secretly love it. My husband sits on one every night while watching TV, mainly to protect my nice white sofa, but also because it’s cozy 🙂 They make perfect gifts, and the colors are all pretty.

My #1 travel must-have. You’re going to want this best-selling carry-on bag every time you go somewhere. It’s an incredible price for what you get: a good looking bag that holds everything you need and is also very durable. I often get questions about whether it can fit under the seat. Yes, if you pack it half-full it — and even when it’s only half-full, it still fits a lot! There’s also a mini option if you prefer a slightly smaller size – I don’t what took me so long to try this one, I love it!
The splurge suitcase you hear about all the time. Last month, on the day I was supposed to leave New York, I realized I couldn’t get everything into my suitcase 😳 I had been eyeing a spendy one, but couldn’t quite justify the price. So, while shopping in SoHo and desperately looking for a place to buy luggage, I saw the Rimowa store. With one hour left, I decided to go for it, and splurged on this green carry-on! As I was moving through the airport, I was impressed with how smooth it rolled, and more importantly, it looked really nice with the green Goyard tote on top 🙂The key to packing your carry-on: compression packing cubes! Thanks to an Insta friend a couple of years ago, I decided to try them, and even my skeptical engineering-brain son agreed: they’re amazing. As a matter of fact, there’s no way I could have fit everything in a carry-on without them.
The only scarf you’ll ever need. Hands down, this is the ONLY scarf you’ll ever need, I swear. It’s lightweight, perfect for an extra layer (especially when traveling), and not too bulky. I’ve worn this one for years from fall to winter to spring. All my friends have it, and it’s the only one I recommend. I also take it on every single trip, and can’t recommend it enough.And here are the last two
The fragrance you’ll get compliments on all day long. Is there a fragrance that everyone loves? Believe it or not, there is! I first discovered this perfume several years ago, and immediately fell in love. It’s a little sexy, perfect for every day, and it smells sooo good. I can’t tell you the number of times people have stopped me to ask what it is. With a floral, woody aroma, this French-made best-seller is sophisticated but subtle. You’ll love it too, trust me. The mini-spa in a jar — treat yourself. During the early days of the pandemic, I discovered the Colleen Rothschild cleansing balm. I’ve given it as gifts to all my friends and family, and still use it regularly. It’s quite luxurious, and your skin will feel smooth and nourished. And, it smells good too.
