The May Capsule: Get Ready for Summer!
It’s always helpful to have endless outfit combinations at your fingertips … that’s why I love creating capsule wardrobes. After all, a solid wardrobe foundation makes getting dressed easy and effortless! To get ready for summer, your wardrobe should transition to lighter weight pieces that you’ll wear over and over for the next few months. I believe in carefully and thoughtfully purchasing pieces that can be worn many different ways. So, many of these items are proven, meaning they’re best sellers, fit well and are worth every penny.
One of my favorite things to do for you is find brand new pieces that make stylish outfits. For many years, this was my work in “Room 3” at Nordstrom, and it was truly a dream job to help women one on one every day. But, this little blog took off, and I’m now able to give “dressing room experiences” online to many of you across the country! I’m still counting my blessings, since making outfits is my happy place 🤍
For this May Capsule, I was inspired by French girl aesthetic after seeing the new J.Crew campaign in St. Tropez. Shades of blue with whites, creams and touches of red will get you summer-ready. These colors are timeless and sophisticated, and they look beautiful together. Keep this post for reference so you can use it all throughout the season. Happy Summer! ☀️
The Brand New May Capsule Wardrobe
In order to create an amazing wardrobe, you have to start with the basics. Then, once you have the basics covered, keep things fresh and updated by adding new, colorful accessories. Rag & Bone Denim Jacket
This denim jacket is part of the Miramar collection at Rag & Bone, which is made from a super soft cotton terry that looks like denim but feels nothing like it. I have a version of this jacket from several years back, and can confirm it’s amazing! It’s lightweight and feels more like a thin sweatshirt. Plus, it’s a good choice for when the evening cools down.

Gucci cardigan + Rag & Bone vest
Having a couple of knitwear pieces in your lineup is always a great idea! I love this Rag & Bone vest that I saw while in Dallas. It’s so cool, and you can wear it alone, or unbuttoned with a tank under it. The Gucci cardigan is a huge splurge I know, and I’m searching for an alternative, but I thought I’d show it to you. A patterned cardigan casually draped over your shoulders? So chic!

Frame cropped trench
Cropped trench jackets are showing up everywhere, and this one caught my eye immediately. It’s less “coat” and more like a shirt. I purchased it, and shared an outfit idea in this Reels video. Try it with denim shorts, white denim, skirts … the list goes on! This is a favorite piece right now.

This wardrobe staple has been a favorite for years, and it’s perfect for warmer weather. It’s a linen/cotton blend, and it’s really versatile. You can wear it with cropped denim and your favorite sandals for a casual look. It’s also a good alternative for work or business casual outfits. Check out the other colors here.

Rails gauze jacket
This lightweight jacket by Rails is a best seller, and it goes with many many outfits. You’ll be summer-ready for warm weather climates, and you can wear it with dresses, denim and denim shorts. This is a good one!

Ivory trench coat
Everyone should invest in a trench coat of some kind! This time of year, look for a trench coat in a lighter color, like this one. You’ll wear it with everything from your favorite pair of jeans to any style of dress. So chic … and French!

Summer-ready dresses
Having a couple of easy, everyday dresses is the key to getting ready for warmer weather. This longer white one by Frame is versatile, and you can wear it casually with flat sandals. Or, try dressing it up with a block heel sandal. This denim shirt dress is an all time favorite, and I wear mine regularly once the weather gets warmer.
