Level up your outfits: Allsaints leather jacket | Vince dress | Sandals
Here’s the piece that will level up your fall outfits!
When it comes to building your wardrobe, there is one category that is very important for completing your outfits. If you’ve been following me for a while, you won’t be surprised when I say the most important category is coats and jackets! I could be a little biased since I started out as a coat buyer for Nordstrom. But, all these years later, I still believe that one can never have too many jackets.
Right now, I have my eye on leather and faux leather jackets. They add a little edge to every outfit, and you can find them at all price points. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a $149 belted faux leather jacket, and you’d be surprised how easily it passes for the real thing. Trust me on this one, a good looking leather/faux leather jacket will level up all your fall outfits. And who doesn’t want that?
This week, my Nordstrom Stylist friends and I announced our October “N6 Drop” (a monthly drop of six of our favorite, best-selling items). We selected a beautiful silk blouse, a striped cashmere sweater, a cool faux leather jacket, and of course, the best-selling jeans that work for almost everyone. Today’s post is about making good, solid everyday outfits for fall, and the key staples that make it all work. They’re super simple, very wearable, and I’m sure you’ll love them 🙂 Keep reading to see what they are, and of course, how to style them!

6 pieces you need now
1. Leather and faux leather jackets
A good leather jacket can last years and years, and will always level up any outfit you’re wearing. Faux leather has come a long way as well, and I always share my finds with friends and clients. Many people can’t tell the difference between faux leather and the real thing! Whichever material you prefer, it’s an easy way to elevate your wardrobe. It makes anything you’re wearing look more expensive than it really is!

2. Nordstrom cashmere sweaters
Every year, Nordstrom comes out with their classic cashmere sweaters — and every year they sell out! I have several that I’ve collected over the years, and you can’t beat the price and quality. The colors are always pretty, and since they’re lightweight, they make the perfect layering piece under coats and jackets.

3. Frame Gillian blouses
The Frame Gillian blouse is one of my personal favorites. I know it’s a splurge, but if you just invest in one, it’s a piece you’ll have for years to come. I love the new colors that have recently come out, like this olive long sleeved top, or the pretty blue short sleeved version. If you don’t own a black blouse, then now might be the time to consider one! I suggest it to every one of my clients. You’ll always have something to wear if you have this blouse in your wardrobe.
4. Handbags under $300
I’m often asked for more affordable options when it comes to handbags. I’m super picky, but the brands that often get it right (in my opinion) include Rag & Bone, Naghedi, AllSaints and Rebecca Minkoff. I just noticed this morning that Nordstrom now has Naghedi – don’t wait, because last time they sold out immediately! Below are some options, hand selected by me 😉
5. Denim: Paige Claudine
Paige denim is one of my favorite brands, and the Paige Claudine style is so flattering on everyone! It’s really similar to the Mother Hustler, which is also a best-seller and works any time of year! Try wearing it with boots, sneakers, or heels – they all work perfectly!
6. Black boots
Now is the time to make sure you’re covered in the black boot category! As I always say, if you purchase a pair now, you’ll have a longer wearing season. They’re a wardrobe staple, and it’s important to get this important piece right. Stylish black boots will level up your dresses, denim, skirts, you name it. Trust me on this one!
