The handbag edit: Save or Splurge?

Handbags are one of those stylish pieces that complete all your outfits. I know, I say that about a lot of things (ha) … but, if I had to pick one item, it would be a handbag. It can literally make or break your outfit, and if you stop and think about it … we carry them ALL THE TIME. So, should you save or splurge? Well, the truth is, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to find one that will go with everything. And while I do appreciate a designer bag here and there, I also have one from Zara ($39!) that I absolutely love. The idea is to have a small collection of handbags: black (of course), a neutral color, and then a fun seasonal one like this or this!

Today’s post is all about handbags — some great new ones at different price points and some recommendations re: saving or splurging. There are also cool picks from Emily (all under $100), and my picks that aren’t under $100 🙂 Hopefully you’ll see a little inspo and find something you like!

P.S. I’ve been working on updating my Pinterest boards, and I’d love to know what you think. And, if you’re new around here and want to stay up to date on all things stylish and the hot new items we ALL need, then subscribe here and never miss a post! And my daughter Emily has a new section; follow Em’s picks here.

There are so many amazing handbags right now, and I have my eye on several after deciding my selection could use a refresh! I’m loving every canvas tote I see (including this splurge), and the Marc Jacobs version above is a fraction of the price.

Believe it or not, there are many good handbag options under $100, and this is the perfect way to go for a fun color or a seasonal bag. Two brands I always look at are House of Want (here), and Topshop, because both are on-trend, designer inspired and well-priced. Check them out!

Designer bags under $1500

There are endless options for designer bags under $1500, and some favorites include the YSL camera bag and Gucci Marmont bags.

Canvas bags for Spring

I just splurged on this cute little canvas bag which I plan on wearing from now through September. It was hard to choose one since I love so many (yes, yes and yes)!

Neutral bags

These neutral bags go with everything from black or gray to blue or denim … the list goes on and on!

Totes

Whether you’re starting to do a little travel, carrying work papers, or just like having the option of bringing a few things with you, investing in a cool tote is the way to go — and it will also elevate your outfits. I LOVE this one, and had a hard time choosing the color but decided on black. Find one you love, you’ll have it for years!
