How to buy your beauty products online!
Since day one of my first job at Nordstrom (in 1982!), I have worn makeup. And while I’m no makeup artist, I do consider myself a bit of a beauty junkie. I’ve tried SO MANY things over the years! These days, I rely on blogs, specialists, and a few trusted friends who like to research the newest beauty products as much as I do 🙂 Nordstrom.com is my go-to for all beauty products, and the selection is always amazing. It’s literally a one-stop shop for everything you need!
At the moment, having your makeup done or even trying on makeup at a beauty counter is off the table. So, how in the world do you purchase beauty products online? Find someone you trust to make the best recommendations! My authenticity promise to you is that I will only share things that I’ve personally used, or new products I want to try based on solid reviews from my most trusted sources.
Today’s post shares 7 beauty favorites I know you’ll love. Most of them are highly rated and get great reviews, some have even won Allure’s Best of Beauty Awards. Enjoy!

#1 Morning routine skin-care
Lately I’ve been using The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser by Tula and I LOVE it — it smells so good!
Can’t live without the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup remover — gone through many bottles!
The Perricone Cold Plasma + Eye is my go-to morning and night, it’s super hydrating.
Elemis is a favorite brand, and the Pro-Collagen Marine Cream has an SPF 30, which is convenient because it eliminates a sunscreen step. It also goes on really smoothly!
#2 Nighttime routine skin-care
Love love love the Elemis Cleansing Balm — it reminds me of a spa!
I’ve been using The Serum by Clé de Peau, and was so sad to reach the bottom of the jar 🙁 It’s a splurge, but I used every drop, so that says something!
Also been trying to use the GloPRO microneedling device several times/week. This is one tool that has given me great results.
My dermatologist friend Dr. Lauren says Vitamin C serum is critical, and this is the one she recommends. I will try it immediately!
If I’m feeling like extra hydration is needed, I’ll often use this face oil or this reasonably priced moisturizer by First Aid Beauty, which everyone in my family loves!
#3 Foundation makeup prep
I wear foundation every single day. This isn’t for everyone, but if you like foundation, there’s none better than Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. Bottle after bottle, I keep thinking I’ll try a new one — but I have no plans to change!
Applying a primer before foundation is one of the best makeup tricks ever. Try alternating between the First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie primer and the Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer.
Laura Mercier makes a great eye primer. You can use the neutral color flax every day, under any color of eye shadow.
For under eye concealer, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Away offers light coverage and doesn’t settle into wrinkles. I use this brush (which is KEY) to tap it in and keep it smooth!
#4 Charlotte Tilbury
I tell all my friends this tip: never go to one counter and have your makeup done, then walk away with everything from that same line. And though I believe that with all my heart, for some reason I still have a drawer full of Charlotte Tilbury (!) I’ve purchased many items over and over (read more about it here).
Here are my must-haves: Magic Cream, Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder (I use color medium), Magic Away Concealer (I use #3), Pillowtalk everything, and these lipsticks: Kidman’s Kiss, Sexy Sienna, Kim KW, Tell Laura, and of course, Pillowtalk.
The Hollywood Flawless Filter makeup is brand new to Charlotte Tilbury and can be applied on top of your cheekbones to give you the perfect glow. According to Charlotte, “I have bottled super-flattering, suits-all, real-life CONFIDENCE GLOW FILTERS!” Perfect for when you need that little pick-me-up!
#5 Lip combos
I recently discovered Creme Cup by Mac, and this pencil is the perfect complement. This gloss finishes the look!
Another amazing lip combo is Charlotte Tilbury Kidman’s Kiss, this lip pencil and this gloss.
For a neutral everyday lipstick, try Adrienne by Chanel and this Bobbi Brown liner in Rose — another great combo you can wear every day.
For a slightly darker neutral look, this Bobbi Brown Art Stick with this go-with-everything Chanel pencil (nude brown) is a favorite. Use with any shade of Chanel gloss for beautiful lips!
I swear EVERYONE needs the Chanel Lip Brush because it blends lipstick evenly on the lip, which is critical as we get older/better 😉
#6 It’s all about the eyes!
Laura Mercier Eye Caviar Sticks are very easy to apply, and the Rose Gold is everyone’s favorite. It’s a pretty, neutral color with a slight sparkle.
Tightlining your eyes is KEY, and you’ll be amazed at how much it adds to your look! The only liner to use for this is Chanel waterproof liner, it’s the best!
When I’m taking a little extra time, I’ll add an eyeshadow from this quad or this one. Finish with a couple of swipes of mascara and you’re good to go!
I have gone through countless Chanel Le Volume mascaras and have no plans to switch.
#7 Fragrance
I can’t imagine writing a beauty post and not writing about fragrance! I have a little obsession and am ALWAYS looking for my next new favorite 🙂 For now, these are in the rotation: Baccarat Rouge 540, Le Labo Santal 33, Byredo Bibliotheque and Creed Royal Princess Oud. A tip for trying out a fragrance: use the body lotion first. It’s an inexpensive way to see if you like it!
