11 Easy Outfits You Can Recreate This Week!

Sometimes, having too many clothes makes it hard to get dressed. This might sound counterintuitive, but it’s true! My husband jokes that our upstairs back hall looks like a Nordstrom stock room (!!) due to several rolling racks filled with jeans, sweaters, jackets etc. I know he’s right, but I still roll my eyes when he’s not looking 😉 Here’s the thing, the 80/20 rule is valid — we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time. This is why it’s so important to figure out which fall & winter basics we’ll wear on repeat, all season long.

Today’s post is about easy outfit ideas that you can recreate this week. Whether you’re getting ready for special events, heading out for a weekend getaway, or simply running errands, I’ve rounded up 10 fall & winter outfits I think you’ll love. From luxe coats to soft knits to timeless accessories, I hope you’ll be inspired to start getting ready for the cooler weather that’s just around the corner. Cheers!

The Nordstrom Brand That Looks Like Quiet Luxury … For Less

The Weekly Edit: Here Are 5 Sweaters I’d Buy First

#1 Brocade Jackets

Staud jacket | Vince pants | Sandals, similar | Chanel bag, affordable version here

Brocade (or jacquard) jackets – basically any cool textured styles are having a moment this season. Em picked out this one for me, and it comes with a matching dress. I also just noticed there’s a new version that’s gorgous. This longer one from Reformation is gorgeous (runs really roomy), and I also spotted this new Veronica Beard one that looks like Dolce, and and this Tuckernuck one. All so chic, and you can wear them with jeans more casually or dressed up with heels and black pants.

#2 Fall Dresses: Short or Long

Left: Tuckernuck dress | Liffner bag, similar | Right: Green dress | Midi dress | Earrings | Shoes | Fur jacket | Clutch | Skirt

Tuckernuck has the best dress selection! I know I always say this, but it’s true. And, they always have a longer version and a shorter version, giving you more options (look here, here and here). And, if you want to take a peek at their website, click here — it always looks beautiful and their returns are EASY! You get a barcode, and drop it off at a UPS store, no taping, and the refund comes quickly.

#3 Casual Jacket + Ecru Jeans

Hill House Home jacket | Paige Anessa jeans

Ecru jeans are ideal for fall and winter, and they really brighten up darker fall colors. Try getting a tank or tee or some kind of top in a matching color, and then you’ll have many jacket options to make really great outfits. Some ecru jean options include this ankle length one, this classic straight leg style and the best-selling Paige Anessa that I’m wearing above. When it comes to jackets, I can’t say enough good things about the one I’m wearing above – wear it with jeans or dresses. See below for a few more jackets that caught my eye.

#4 J.Crew Has the Best Coats

J.Crew boiled Italian wool car coat | Vince pants | Burgundy clutch, similar | Gold sandals, similar

J.Crew just received their new coat collection, and it looks really good! A few favorites include the new car coat I’m wearing above, and this double faced wool/cashmere coat that’s luxe and stylish. It’s slightly oversized and runs roomy, so size down at least one size. For shorter versions, look at this new peacoat, and this one that sells out every year. The best part is that most of these are available in petite, regular and tall.

#5 Outfit inspo

Left: Trench | Cardigan | Jeans | Earrings | Boots | Bag | Right: Coat | Blouse | Jeans | Bag | Slingbacks

See more recent outfit inspo boards here

#6 Knee Boots + Dresses

Black trench | Stuart Weitzman boots | Doen cardigan & skirt, similar here and here

Midi style dresses and knee boots are the perfect winter outfit! You’ll be cozy if you wear tights, and while I’m sharing heeled boots below, you can easily substitute for flat styles.

#7 Button-up Shirt + Dark Jeans

TWP button up | Khaite jeans, different wash | Jimmy Choo pumps | Liffner bag, similar

Everyone should have a great button-up or two in their rotation. My current favorite that I’ve been telling everyone who will listen about is the ruched-sleeved ones by Brochu Walker, Other options include this J.Crew one and this Frank & Eileen one. When it comes to dark jeans, which I’m noticing everywhere, these are the ones I’m recommending right now.

#8 Travel Outfit + Comfy sneakers

Rag & Bone Mercer wool knit blazer | Aritzia Lodge pants | Veronica Beard sneakers

Someone asked if I really did wear the soft white pants on the airplane — and yes, yes I did! Did they get dirty? A little, but they washed up easily and I liked my outfit 🙂 When it comes to sneakers, I can’t say enough good things about the Veronica Beard ones. They give you a 2″ lift, and they’re super comfortable. Everyone I know who owns them is so happy.

#9 Varley Outfits

Left: Zip jacket, similar | Wide-leg pant | Right: Puffer coat | 1/2 zip & matching pant | Scarf | Ugg | Luggage

London-based Varley is an all-time favorite brand, and it’s perfect for elevated casual. Whether you’re running errands, being cozy at home or going on a long flight, this is one of my highest recommendations. Add a coat – could be a long wool one or a casual puffer, pretty much any style layers on top. I love this 1/2 zip, and this is the pant that I recommend – available here in shorter lengths. See all the new arrivals here

#10 Cozy Sweater Outfits

Sanctuary sweater | Mother jeans

I mean it’s cozy sweater season (!), and to see more options, click here to read the recent post on the 5 sweaters I’d buy first this season

#11 Stand Collar Jackets + Mid-Rise Jeans

Aritzia stand collar jacket | Frame mid-rise jeans | Staud boots

Lower rise jeans are back and believe it or not, they are selling! Don’t be scared – I’m not talking about the ones with a one-inch zipper we wore in the early 2000’s. Instead, the ones I’m referring to are more of a 9″ rise which are really considered mid-rise jeans. A few I think are worth paying attention too – this one by Frame and this Mother one. I’m finding them to be so flattering and a welcome change!
