The Fall Favorites Actually Worth Your Money
Since we’re at the beginning of a new season, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some absolute favorites for the coming fall season. This is one of my very favorite posts to write, because I love to show you items that are tried and true (in my opinion). My goal is to keep you all in the know, and share the pieces I truly believe are worth the money! Of course, I follow my “authenticity promise” whenever I write anything for So Susie. I’m always honest, and I only share things I’ve tried, own, or would happily buy myself. In other words, you can trust what I recommend.
These fall favorites are pieces I truly love, and I highly recommend. There’s a bit of a mix — everything from stylish boots to the coziest pajamas to a new jean I keep reaching for. And, there’s an amazing cashmere sweater you’ll want in your rotation. Grab a cup of tea, this post is a little long — but I hope it’s helpful! 😊
P.S. I started a Substack with my daughter Emily called Susie & Em Unfiltered. We’re covering wishlist-worthy finds, hotel recs, trends worth knowing about, and what it’s really like to work and travel together. Think different decades, same taste, zero filter. Check out our recent post “How We Fly Business Class to Europe Every Time” and subscribe here if you like it!
Fall Edition: Denim

Left: TWP shirt | Mother Hustler Roller jeans | Sandals | Clutch, similar | Right: Cropped trench, similar | Jeans | Knit top | Dior bag | Sandals
#1 – Twisted-seam jeans – This new trend in denim is super flattering, and adds a little extra detail to keep your outfits feeling fresh. I’ve tried several, and these are the ones I recommend: Mother Lemon Twist – available in a new gray wash, ecru and a medium blue. This is the most fashion forward jean of the bunch. This new Mother Bookie Twist is a mid-rise that’s slightly loose and comfy. Paige just came out with this new slim bootcut, and the Paige Anessa was just updated in this new faded black wash (it looks ankle length, but it’s full length, FYI).
#2 – The TikTok viral sweatpant jean – The Miramar collection at Rag & Bone is still a favorite, and everyone loves them. They’re comfortable and run a touch roomy, but once you try them on, you’ll likely go back for a second pair … they’re that good! I highly recommend the Sofie or the track pant. They’re perfect for long flights because they’re actually sweatpants — I just wore this pair on my recent trip home from London.
#3 – Petite jeans – Talk about a game changer if you’re 5’4″ and under! The knee placement is higher, and the rise and inseam are shorter, so everything fits where it should. Best selection: Lil Mother, Paige petites and Frame Pixie. Try the Mother Lemon Twist here and here. Love this new dark wash Paige Anessa. The Frame Rodeo is a favorite mid-rise boot cut that’s flattering — see the new washes here.
#4 – Frame Rodeo – If you’re excited about a mid-rise jean, this BRAND NEW style (released earlier this year) is the one to try. It has become one of the best-sellers at Frame, and it’s available in many colors and also in petites. Check it all out here. I have a discount code: SUSIE15 to get 15% off your order — such a deal 🙂
Shoes, Belts & Bags

Dehanche belts | Savette bags | Veronica Beard sneakers
#5 – Veronica Beard sneakers – It has been a really long time since I’ve loved a sneaker this much, and both the slide version and regular style are really good. Super comfy, stylish and lots of color combos. Look at this best-selling one called Valentina and this backless one.
#6 – The tote that looks designer – It’s not often I come across a bag for under $200 that is this good! This handbag (also here in red) looks like a designer piece: it’s durable, holds everything you could possibly need, and every color looks expensive. And, they keep selling out, so grab one now while they’re still in stock.
#7 – The stylish boot that elevates your winter outfits – I literally can’t imagine getting dressed without these boots. They’re the perfect heel height, super flattering on your feet, and they’ll make all your denim outfits that much more stylish. Check out all the colors here. I rarely say this, but it’s possibly the one boot you could own in two colors. It’s an absolute fave! And three more …
#8 – Dehanche belts are so cool – I recently discovered this belt brand and now I’m seeing them everywhere, including at Selfridge’s in London! They’re really good quality, the hardware looks expensive, and they aren’t as expensive as a designer belt. This is the one I own — a top pick if you’re looking for a new belt.
#9 – The sandals that literally go with everything – I’ve gone on and one about clear strap sandals, and this new pair (similar to the Louboutin ones) are surprisingly comfortable, they make your legs go on forever, and they literally go with every single thing in your closet. Jeans to dresses, these are a high recommendation.
#10 – A designer bag I’d buy in every single color if I could – I can’t say enough good things about the Savette clutches. I love this best-selling style, and this newer east/west style. I own the bag in red (and love) and am now considering this brown suede one or this new blue suede one. Let me know if you decide to try one!
Wardrobe Essentials

Left: Tuckernuck faux leather dress | Sandals | Right: Barbour jacket | Mother Hustler Roller jeans | Burgandy bag, similar
#11 – Barbour jacket – Can’t say enough good things about a Barbour jacket! They’re timeless, super stylish, and also pretty practical. Check out the Beadell style I’m wearing above, and look at some other favorites here & here.
#12 – Quince sweaters – Recently, I’ve been wearing this cotton one on repeat (love the blue) and just took this slightly oversized cashmere one on vacation (also in blue). The quality is amazing, the price is so reasonable, and I highly recommend both of them. For helpful cashmere care instructions, make sure to check out the Quince website.
#13 – Staud Phare dress – If you’re looking for a stylish, super flattering dress that you can wear for many different occasions, this is the one to try. It’s available in black and chocolate brown (gorgeous), and it’s one of their best selling styles. The ruching is flattering, and it’s one of those dresses that work for many different occasions.
Three more …
#14 – Leset everything – I was so excited that Nordstrom recently started carrying this brand! Since then, I’ve tried several pieces including: this tank & matching pant, this cotton tank, this cotton cardigan and this stripe dress. Also loved these cotton pants (that have gone viral) but I didn’t buy them because they needed a hem, and I ran out of time!#15 – Varley – Talk about the comfiest sets around — Varley is one of the best. The other day I wore this dress, and no joke got four compliments in one day — must have been the pretty brick red color 😉 Love this 1/2 zip with the matching short, and also this long sleeved quarter-zip with the matching pant. Highly recommend giving this brand a try if you haven’t already.
#16 – The best lightweight puffer jacket you’ll ever own – No joke, I wear this jacket every other day this time of year … all the way through May! I take it on every airplane trip, and because it’s thin, you can tie it around your waist if you get too hot. I went with a size small (usually an XS) so I could layer a hoodie or a thin sweater underneath.

Splurge: Luxury Items

Susie: Silk robe | Gold table | Right: Table lamp | Books: Italy | John Derian | Slim Aarons
#17 – The perfume you’ll get compliments on all day long – One of life’s little luxuries is finding a signature scent that you absolutely love. My go-to fragrance is Rouge 540. It’s a little sexy, long lasting, and ideal for every day wear. The amount of compliments I get is crazy — no wonder it’s listed as the #1 most complimented fragrance out there!
#18 – The luxurious silk robe under $200 – There’s nothing better than feeling a little extra in the morning when getting ready for your day. A silk robe will do that, and this washable one is hands down a favorite! My daughter just purchased this pretty color for our upcoming trip to NYC.
#19 – The splurge necklace you’ll love forever – There comes a point in life when it’s ok to spend a little on good jewelry. This gorgeous, sparkly necklace was a splurge, and the cost per wear is low since I haven’t taken it off in two years! And, it layers beautifully with everything you already own. I also recently added a box chain quad necklace — click here to see it all, and even better, get 15% off at checkout.
A few more …
#20 – The coolest cuff around! Ever since I laid eyes on the crazy expensive Tiffany Bone cuff that everyone talks about, it has been on my wishlist. So, when I spotted this more affordable version, I got pretty excited … then it sold out. The minute it came back in stock, I ordered it, and I’ve worn it many times. It’s a classic piece you’ll have for years, and it makes a statement so you hardly need any other jewelry. It’s in stock — but won’t be for long!#21 – Comfortable panties – Shhh don’t tell anyone, but these not sexy, super comfortable best-selling panties are really that good! It’s a secret in the lingerie department: this is the one panty everyone loves (and wears). They’re one size fits all (which is kind of crazy), and they come in several different styles. You’ll thank me later on this little tip 🙂
#22 – This bra works magic – I mean — who doesn’t want a little lift? Your clothes will look better, and I swear you’ll look a little taller and slimmer. And, dare I say … even youthful. A while back, a good friend asked me if I’d gotten a boob job – hah! No was the answer, but I did discover this incredible bra that is pretty, kinda sexy and works magic. #23 – Printfresh pjs – I have a bit of a pj obsession and lately these are the ones everyone is asking about. They’re soft and comfortable, the prints are fun, and they make great gifts. And, if you love robes, this is the one to get!Travel Basics Everyone Needs
Left: Spanx crew and matching pant, similar | Sandals | Right: Spanx half zip and matching pant
#24 – The tech item that brings so much happiness – Sounds a little over the top, but I bring a speaker on every trip. Just this past week in Santa Fe, it was nice to listen to my music while getting ready!
#25 – I finally upgraded to these Apple Earphones – And wow, what a game changer! Just the noise cancelling option alone makes airplane travel so much better. The last three …
#26 – The prettiest travel wallet around – This holds everything you need while traveling: luggage tags, your passport, boarding passes and more. And it doubles as a clutch once you arrive. #27 – A portable charger you’ll wonder how you lived without – My only recommendation — buy several! They make great gifts, and if you use them like I do, you’ll want two at any given time. #28 – Finally an international adapter in one little box – I was done with all the various adapters, and finally found this one that’s super handy. #29 – Travel sets that are perfect for any destination – These 100% super comfy cotton travel sets are amazing, and I tested one on a long flight to Europe. Not only will you feel comfortable, but you’ll also look put together on arrival. And, they aren’t just for travel — try them on weekends or when lounging at home. My favorites are the Boston or the London.
