Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2026: Here’s My Secret Strategy
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is almost here … and, if you’re planning to shop it, here’s my secret strategy you need to know!
Hi, I’m Susie! I spent over 25 years as a Nordstrom Buyer and Personal Stylist helping my clients and friends score amazing sale items. Needless to say, I kind of know a thing or two when it comes to shopping the Nordstrom sale 😉 Consider me your most trusted source on how to navigate the sale, and get the best of the fall season — highly edited, on trend, and super stylish — before it’s all gone!
Right now, everyone is talking about the sale! It’s an exciting time, but there are a few things I’ve learned over the years, including this all-important recommendation: make careful and thoughtful purchases. Keep in mind, this is an extra busy time at Nordstrom, and there are many brand new, regular-priced items and collections that arrive by the minute. So, the best pieces fly out the door — whether they’re on sale or not.
So … what’s my secret strategy?
Trust me on this one: Focus on the hot items that are going to sell out quickly. This is my number one strategy that has worked for all my clients over the years. If you wait, you won’t get what you want!
How will you know which items are going to sell out? I’ll tell you! In my next Nordstrom Sale post on July 13, I’ll reveal the most popular brands and the pieces that sell out the fastest. Mark your calendars for this post — you won’t want to miss it!
And finally, why is this sale such a big deal? Because it’s brand new, fall merchandise offered at a discount before the season even starts, and it gets marked back up in August. This is the best of fall! I’ve been working hard behind the scenes to show you my favorites and give you the best recommendations possible. Happy shopping! 🌟

**Sale favorites on my radar – I’ll be sharing my top 10 picks on July 13**
Wool coats: This is a favorite time of year to shop for coats and jackets, and one can never have too many! Some favorites this year include Reiss (look at this, this and this). Also loving this cashmere wrap, and this Vince cashmere blend one.
Leather everything: There is a lot of leather on the sale this year, and some top picks include this AllSaints brown suede jacket that won’t last, this leather bomber and matching skirt (above), these Vince suede pants, and this midi skirt.
Collections: They’re always the first to go, and this year L’Agence looks really good, and so does Vince (better than last year IMO). These are pieces you will have for years, so they’re worth the splurge. I’ll be covering way more of these on July 13th.
Beauty exclusives: Another favorite category! There are some great deals, and trying out new brands is always a good idea. Love this serum by Eighth Day, this Creed perfume set, and this set by La Mer. Of course, if you haven’t tried the Dyson Hair Wrap, now is your chance.
Fine jewelry: Every year I splurge here. Years ago, it was a Michele watch which I still love. And look this gorgeous bracelet from Bony Levy, and and a bangle set like this one from Monica Vinader.
Luggage: I was surprised to see such a large selection of luggage! Brands like Tumi and Away are really good — I own this Away suitcase and always use the expandable option. I added this pink luggage set to my wishlist.
Jeans: The premium denim goes quickly, so if you’re in between sizes (and are up for a return), I always suggest trying two sizes. Some styles I love include Paige: the Anessa in a darker wash looks really good. And, if you want a super slim leg, the Cindy is back! Mother favorites: this, this and this. Frame styles that will go fast: this black wash style, this bootcut style and dark wash style.

Don’t forget to pick up the basics, even if they’re not on sale
I know, I know. Sometimes the best-selling basics aren’t on sale. But, they’re still the building blocks to every single outfit. So, even if they’re at regular price, the strategy is: stock up! I’m talking about this Veronica Beard Dickey jacket, this classic silk blouse, stylish black pants like these, and this black scarf. All are important pieces to own so you can put together stylish outfits!

7 Insider Tips for Shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale from a Former Nordstrom Stylist
Tip 1: Shop online! Everything that is part of the Nordstrom sale will be available online. In other words, most stores don’t receive the full assortment, and when they do, quantities are limited. So, if you want to get the best things, shopping online is the way to go!
Tip 2: Focus on the things that will sell out first. For example, designer collections, higher priced coats and jackets and premium denim will be the first to go. I’ll be sharing the specific items and collections on July 13.
Tip 3: Know your cardholder status. and shop the moment you can. Remember, it starts at July 14 at12:01ET (midnight), so depending on your time zone, adjust accordingly. For example, on the west coast that means you can start shopping at 9:01 pm on July 13th, which I highly recommend.
Tip 4: Consider paying $20 extra for expedited shipping if it’s available. This bumps your order up in the queue and increases your chances of getting what you want … faster. Trust me on this one, you’ll be sorry if you don’t.
Tip 5: Stock up on basics. Everyone is saying this, but it’s true. Get your denim, leather jackets, coats, shoes, booties and makeup now!
Tip 6: Schedule a Personal Double Points Day. Earn 2x the points towards Nordstrom notes — you’ll be glad you did 🙂
Tip 7: What to do when things sell out? I always suggest putting a wrong size of the item you want in your shopping cart. Then, continue checking your shopping cart regularly (every day is not a bad idea). Since inventory is always changing, there’s a good chance your size will pop up! If you have the Nordstrom app, you can turn on notifications if your size comes back.
Happy Shopping everyone!
