This Week’s 5: Stylish Summer Denim!
Happy Friday! Last week, I launched a new series called “This Week’s 5.” It’s a short guide where I’ll be sharing my thoughts on everything from what’s trending in fashion to styling tips to things that have caught my eye recently. The goal is to keep it short and super useful, like a quick reference for the week. Today is post #2, I hope you’ll like it!
Denim is always trending, and I believe we should all keep our collections updated — since denim is the starting point of every great outfit! Of course, I’m not suggesting that we chase every trend, but finding just one new jean that works for you will elevate every outfit. Today’s post is about stylish summer denim that you’ll wear all year long. Several of the jeans I’m sharing are available in extended sizes, including petites, which is a total game changer if you’re 5’4″ and under! #1 Faded Blue Denim
If you buy one stylish pair of jeans this season, make it a faded blue long length jean! It’s the one item that every fashion girl is wearing, from LA to Paris to NYC. Think of it as your classic go-to jean that you’ll wear all year long. This time of year, I like them paired with pretty tops, lighterweight jackets and simple white tees like this new polo (currently on sale).

#2 Washed Black Denim
Washed black denim is great for summer (when it’s not 100 degrees), and this faded black color feels elevated and cool. The Ren is a best-seller, and I was SO excited to find it in petite sizes! It’s a modern wide leg jean that should hit just above the ankle. Wear it with heels or casual sandals. This is a great jean and a favorite recent purchase.

#3 Barrel-leg Denim
Madewell Darted Barrel Leg Jeans
The controversial jean everyone loves … or doesn’t! According to the lead designer at Frame denim, barrel jeans aren’t going away anytime soon! And, while they look bad on me 🤷🏻♀️ I think they’re super cool if you can pull them off. I think they’re worth trying if you’re 5’4″ and taller (I just made that number up!) but I think they can be a bit unflattering on us shorties. Style them with pointy toed shoes and a cool jacket — so chic!

When it comes to summer denim, every closet should have either white or ecru jeans. Or both! White feels summery, and I wear mine all the time. Ecru on the other hand has a way of adding a little sophistication when it comes to styling. Whichever you prefer, grab them early so you have a longer wearing season.
