I Just Went to London—These Are the Trends I Saw Everywhere!
I love to work on articles for Who What Wear, and am honored when asked for my “advice” on fashion and styles. My partnership with WWW is over four years old now, and I continue to be extremely proud to be affiliated with them. Recently, my friend and Senior Editor Bobby Schuessler asked me to weigh in on the trends I saw in London on my last trip. You can read the article “I’m a Former Nordstrom Buyer Who Just Went to London—These Are the Items I Saw Everywhere” here.
After a week of shopping, eating, sightseeing and doing “blog research,” I spotted some specific trends and items that the London style set were wearing on repeat. Of course, I try to incorporate these pieces into my own outfits when I can! Keep reading to see the specific items and trends I found — you’ll wear them all season long.
P.S. Today’s post is a recap from my latest WWW article. Remember, when the article first appears in WWW, the clothing selections are made by Bobby and his team (he also chooses the title). But, when I recap the article, the items shared are MY picks. I hope you like them!
1. Barn Jackets

Barbour barn coat | Frame baby tee | Frame Le High Long | SW Naomi boots | Celine bag
Basically, barn jackets are trending all over London. There are many different versions, from the classic Barbour style to cool oversized versions to longer lengths, and I noticed some chic women styling them unexpectedly: with skirts!
2. Straight Leg Jeans

Madewell blazer | Frame baby tee | Mother jeans | Rag & Bone boots | Bottega bag | Foundrae necklace
Talk about universally easy-to-style denim! In my opinion, straight-leg jeans are flattering on pretty much everyone, and this classic style (in any wash) works with every kind of shoe. It’s just so versatile! These jeans need to be in your rotation.
3. Black Boots

Cropped trench, similar | Isabel Marant sweatshirt, similar | Mother Hustler jeans | YSL tote | SW Naomi boots
Black boots (of varying styles) were on the fashion set in London. The styles I noticed while wandering the streets were mostly practical, like Chelsea boots. But there were also cool-girl boots with a more elongated toe, like the Toteme one that everyone loves.
4. Longer Wool Coats

Aritzia coat | Sweater, similar | Citizens Isola jeans | Loeffler Randall boots | Celine bag
One of the main trends I saw in London was longer, slightly oversized wool coats, usually in black, charcoal, or brown. Of course, these wool coats were paired with chunky scarves—didn’t matter whether the rest of the outfit was casual denim or a nice dress!
5. Statement Scarves

J.Crew Juliette cardigan | Scarf | Slingbacks, similar | YSL bag
Seen everywhere: a scarf! Mostly solid, chunky knitted styles. But occasionally, I’d see a silky, more understated pattern. This is the accessory to wear right now—any color, any pattern, any style.
6. Skirts

Green coat, similar | AllSaints sweater | Karen Millen skirt | Reformation boots, similar here | Wolford tights | Celine bag
Another trend I saw over and over in London: skirts! Clearly, it doesn’t matter what time of year it is there. Since it was a bit chilly, most people were wearing the skirts with tights and boots (or flats).
7. Trench Coats

Orolay trench | Frame tee | Mother hustler | Gucci loafers (this year’s version) | Goyard tote | Phone case
London is synonymous with trench coats, and it’ll always be so. There were some layered over hoodies, and some were a little more polished. No surprise, classic Burberry coats were everywhere, but I love my Orolay!
8. Belts

Leopard blouse | Black blouse | Emily’s belt | Jeans (we’re wearing the same!)
Belts are the other must-have accessory this year (in additional to scarves), and every stylish Londoner was wearing one. I mostly noticed belts with denim or cinching a dress. But here and there, I saw a belt over a blazer or with trousers. So chic!
