10 Stylist-Approved Items Everyone Can Wear

A few weeks ago, I headed to NYC for a fun week of dinners, business meetings, a little “girl time,” and of course, shopping! I get the best ideas when I’m traveling, and always spot a few trends that we can all get excited about. This time, my stylist friends and I decided to stay at the Baccarat Hotel, which was really beautiful. And, the location was perfect for shopping! It’s always fun to share ideas with my fashion friends, and we get pretty excited about the latest trends. You might be surprised at how many things everyone can wear, even though we’re different sizes.

Many of you might know that I’m only 5’1″ — and while I’ve heard that I look taller in photos 😏, the truth of the matter is, I have my own clothing woes. We all do! So, here’s the deal: after helping thousands of women in the dressing room over the years, as well as a decade of being a Nordstrom Buyer and another decade as a Stylist, I have a very good idea of what works for the majority of us. I try really hard to select items for the blog that are not only top sellers, but that I’m confident you’ll love.

Today’s post is about 10 stylist-approved items that everyone can wear. I’m talking specifically about the brands and styles that work for shorties like me, and tall people too! After hanging out with my tall friend Danielle, and doing a little shopping in each other’s suitcases and in the store, it became apparent that even though there’s a 7″ difference between us, we both have really similar wardrobes. Keep reading to see the stylist-approved items both tall and petite people can wear every day of the week … you might be surprised!

Danielle, a Nordstrom stylist in the Fashion Valley store, is 5’9″ and a size 31 in jeans. I’m a former Nordstrom Stylist at 5’1″ and a size 27 in jeans. We’ve had many dressing room try-ons together, and we BOTH wear the same jeans … without exception!

#1 Hands down Veronica Beard is a favorite brand

#2 Frame Le Slim Palazzo jeans

Frame is an all-time favorite brand, and the Le Slim Palazzo works for almost everyone. And, it’s the #1 selling jean for Frame worldwide! Now that says something. Wear it with boots or sandals — it’s perfect any time of year.

#3 Nordstrom Silk/Cashmere Scarf

Hands down, this is one of the best scarves of all time! It’s lightweight but warm, works perfectly for the airplane and travel (it folds very thin), and looks beautiful with a coat. This scarf is one of my highest recommendations. Black has been my go-to color, but this year the brown color is new, and it’s gorgeous!

#4 Moncler Puffers

There’s a large selection of Moncler puffers available. Some are too puffy, which isn’t good for someone petite — Danielle concluded she doesn’t like this look either. This one above, or the cardigan, are hands down our faves. When buying a puffer jacket, make sure it’s the length that looks best on you.

#5 Hoop Earrings

Hoop earrings are a classic that me and my Nordstrom stylist friends always recommend. For a glamorous night out, size up, and for every day wear, look for a smaller size like this one. When buying hoops, maybe pick up a couple of different sizes. You can’t go wrong here!

#6 Vince Slip Dress

The Vince slip dress has been a Nordstrom Stylist favorite for a while now, and there’s good reason. It’s flattering on everyone since it’s cut on the bias, and it’s very versatile. Almost everyone I know either wears a sweater over their shoulders or some kind of jacket. But, if you can wear it alone, go for it! I always wear the Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless bra and these Spanx shorts with it.

#7 Naghedi Totes

Naghedi totes are durable, well-priced and super versatile. They’re available in many different colors, and all the styles come with a removable pouch. My personal favorite is the medium-size St .Barths style. Some of the newer styles, like the hobo and the smaller crossbody, are perfect for travel. Everyone can use a good tote — and this one is perfect.

#8 Nordstrom cashmere

Where do I begin?!! A cashmere hoodie is super cozy, stylish under many coats and jackets, and it’s a wardrobe essential that must be in everyone’s wardrobe. This amazing hoodie just got restocked, and the colors are really good. Don’t wait, because it sells out every single year.

#9 Leather Bomber Jackets

Adding a touch of leather to your wardrobe gives your basics a little edge. This one is super cool, and looks good on lots of different body shapes

#10 Boots & Loafers

Moncler puffer | Jeans | Loafers | Sweater | Bag | Scarf | Earrings This is one of our favorite boots of the season. The heel height is absolutely perfect, they go with everything from dresses to jeans, and the colors are all amazing. Trust me — these are boots you’ll wear all winter! When it comes to flats, we both love loafers, and this new Stuart Weitzman one is reminiscent of the Gucci ones we both own.
