So Susie … everything I’m loving as of late
As Of Late, May 2024 Edition
Hi everyone! Welcome to my special series called “as of late.” I started this series in 2022 in order to switch things up a bit here on the blog. I meant to write a version every few months … but time got away — you know how that goes! Since it’s Memorial Day Weekend, I thought it was the perfect time to revisit it, since it’s a personal favorite to write. I’ll be sharing what’s happening in the world of design, food, travel, fashion and … life! It’s kind of like you’re sitting around with girlfriends having a glass of wine, and one of them has the inside scoop 😉
I’ll be covering some fun topics, along with whatever other interesting subjects might come up during the month. For example, there’s what’s in my shopping bag, things that have caught my eye as of late (there’s always something), and exciting interior and exterior design projects. There are also food and cocktail recipes, travel plans and ideas, current trends, and of course, street style inspo 🌟 So … lots of great stuff!
Since fashion is what we talk most about here on So Susie, that won’t change at all. But this will be a fun way to share thoughts on some other interests you all seem to enjoy. I hope you like it 🥂 Cheers!
P.S. If you’re new around here and want to stay up to date on all things stylish, and the bound-to-sell-out items we ALL need, then subscribe here and never miss a post! You can also check out my Instagram Reels videos here.
What has caught my eye … as of late
Right now, I’m in vacation planning mode with several trips coming up, including one to San Diego with my Nordstrom 6 friends to preview the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, followed by a trip to France to visit my girlfriend.
The first trip requires a few work outfits, and this Frame knit dress is one I’ll be packing along with this Frame crop trench, this vest and matching skirt. We’re having a pop up shop again this year, and if you live in the San Diego area, please come say hello!
It’s pretty special to have your bestie living in France, and it’s the perfect excuse to go visit 🤍 Since we’ll be in the South of France, I’m packing loose linen pieces like this drawstring pant and this Quince dress. A beach club in St. Tropez is on the list, so a coverup like this along with a matching swimsuit seems fitting.

The Latest Travel Updates
Top row: Dallas, Texas, Hotel Swexan | Lunch at 60 Vines | Hotel Swexan rooftop bar

It has been a fun month of travel, and here’s a short recap of a Dallas trip and an Oregon Wine Country trip. Watch this packing video, and all the details are here.
Dallas, Texas
My So Susie team and I took a fun business trip to Dallas to visit the LTK offices and do a little bonding, trend shopping and, of course, eating! We stayed in the Hotel Swexan which is a new hotel located in the Harwood district. It is absolutely beautiful! The rooms were lovely, the rooftop pool, bar and restaurant are gorgeous, and I highly recommend staying there. Our two favorite meals were at the Honor Bar. The emerald kale and chicken salad is delicious, and so is the crab cake salad. We talked about it for days! Our favorite dinner was at The Charles. The food was amazing, and we loved the atmosphere!
McMinnville & Oregon Wine Country
For Mother’s Day weekend, my family and I spent the night at the new Tributary Hotel in McMinnville. Located on Third Street, it’s perfect for a quiet and luxurious visit to Oregon Wine Country. The service is over the top, and the morning breakfast is incredible — an experience on its own! We rented a bus which took all of us (including Em’s boyfriend and his parents) to three wineries. For dinner, we tried the James Beard nominee Hayward (which I wanted to love but didn’t). Hands down my favorite place to eat in McMinnville is Humble Spirit. We had the best time and the most incredible food. The getaway ended with a visit to my mom’s garden and the family photo above 🤍
Packing tip: Don’t Leave Home Without This One Essential
Left: Quince linen dress | Sweater over shoulders | Veronica Beard Sandals | Zara bag | Watch | Right: Ivory cashmere crew | Pink sweatshirt | Baseball hat | YSL tote | Ecru denim | Jewelry travel case | Adidas blue sneakers | Denim jacket | Striped linen tee | Sunglasses | Beis Weekender | Beis luggage
Last month, I wrote this blog post sharing the one item everyone should take on vacation, as well as lots of cute vacation outfits. After receiving my 4th Quince cashmere sweater this week (and wearing three days in a row), I decided it’s worth sharing again! Usually this time of year, I don’t share cashmere sweaters — for obvious reasons! However, after traveling to mostly warm places in the last six months, I realized I’ve worn this $50 sweater on every single trip. Whether it’s on the airplane, during the day or over my shoulders in the evening, it’s pretty much the perfect piece and the perfect price. I’ve been asked about the quality, and I’m happy to share that it’s top notch. Don’t wait, grab one or two, you’ll be happy you did!
Food and pretty things
Susie: Varley 1/2 zip sweater and tennis skirt, similar here
This weekend, I’ve spent time re-merchandising my house, setting up our outside patio, flower arranging and cooking. The Farmers Markets are bustling this time of year, and since it’s peony season, I picked up a large bunch. I must say, they looked pretty cute in my Chloe tote! After watching hours of flower arranging videos on this newly discovered IG account, I decided to try this technique, and it worked magically. I love trying new recipes, and this one by Melissa Clark is so good, I’ve made it twice. If you like pork chops, sugar snap peas and mint, I highly recommend it. Plus, it only took about 20 minutes!
Right now, Varley has the cutest tennis-inspired pieces as part of their club collection. You have to see this dress, this cardigan and this new skirt. I’ll be sharing more about Varley really soon!
