7 Dresses That Keep Selling Out
I get lots of DMs every day (which I absolutely love 😊), and hands down, the single most asked question is “what do I wear to xxx event? Just this week, questions included a wedding, work event, a birthday celebration, a cocktail party, and on vacation — to name just a few. And, my answer is always the same: A DRESS! This is by far the easiest way to pull a great outfit together, so having a few good dresses in your rotation is key. Right now, there are many options to choose from, and in particular, there are 7 dresses that keep selling out … because everyone loves them!
Today’s post is a major dress edit, and I’m sharing with you my favorite trends. Since I have a handful of events coming up, I’ve been doing A LOT of dress research. In order to help you narrow down your choices, I’ve put together all my selections below. There’s everything from a floral dress to the dress that keeps selling out to a classic LBD. I’m also including what to wear underneath, and of course, the shoes and accessories you need to pull it all together. I hope this post is helpful and gets you inspired for spring! Have fun at all your events 🥂
#1 My favorite dresses
Left: Frame denim jacket | Norma Kamali dress | Middle: Feathers dress | Schutz shoes | Right: Vince dress | Gold sandals
Norma Kamali $125 dress – When a dress keeps selling out over and over again, you know it’s a good one. Everyone I know who has purchased this one goes on and on about it! It packs well, and can be styled with flat sandals or sneakers. Throw on a denim jacket, a nicer blazer or a leather coat and you’re ready for any event. I sized up to a small because I wanted to be able to move in it – hah!
Tuckernuck feathers dress – Feathers are a trend I absolutely love, and some of you do too. The pink dress I’m wearing above keeps selling out, and now it’s back in stock! There’s also this longer version, and I just spotted this new one in updated colors. They’re all really good, and prices are reasonable. Grab one of these while you can. Vince slipdress – The Vince slip dress is a classic at this point. It’s versatile and can be worn year ’round. Since it’s cut on the bias, it’s super flattering on almost everyone, and I highly recommend it to everyone!
#2 Veronica Beard dresses
Susie: Veronica Beard knit dress | Sandals | Dior bag | Right: Denim dress | Cardigan | Bag | Sandals | Bracelet
Veronica Beard is looking so good lately, and between several store visits and perusing online, I’ve found many great pieces for you. Look at the dress I’m wearing above — it runs a touch small (I went with a small). I also picked up this black shirt dress which is perfect for daytime. While visiting the VB store in Miami, I tried on this striped dress, and I have to say, I wish I’d bought it 😉 Also, their new handbag line is well-priced; check out the bag on the above board — it’s a good one.
#3 Anthropologie dresses
Left: Zip front dress | Sandals | Right: Rhode dress | Sandals
Anthropologie has some of the best dresses, and it’s always one of the first places I look! Most of their dresses come in extended sizes from petites to plus, which is quite helpful. The zip dress I’m wearing above keeps selling out, and just yesterday I noticed a couple of brand new colors. I have this white one in my shopping bag after seeing it on the Wacoal fit specialist, Abbey. See below for a few more favorites.
#4 Frank & Eileen Mary dress
Left: Striped linen dress | Sandals | Bag | Right: Denim dress | Sandals | Straw tote | Bracelet | Sunglasses
Frank & Eileen shirt dress – I’ve been wearing this dress a lot lately, it’s so comfortable! Just yesterday, I wore the faded blue one to a casual lunch in Palm Beach with this tote and raffia wedge sandals. It’s perfect for warm weather days, and don’t forget to scrunch up the sleeves for a casual look.
#5 LBD
Left: ALC Renzo | Middle: Rails Eyelet dress | Right: Cinq A Sept McKenna
ALC Renzo – This dress is an all-time favorite style. It runs true to size (TTS), or just a bit large. Wear the Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra and this panty and you’ll feel beautiful (and look incredible) no matter where you’re going.
Cinq a Sept McKenna – This dress is a best-seller, and it’s a great choice for many different events. It’s stretchy, a little forgiving and runs TTS. I’m wearing a size 4. I had the sleeves shortened, and added a little hook at the bust line to help the dress from showing too much cleavage. There are several versions of this dress, so you have several options!
#6 Floral dresses
Left: Cara Cara dress | Bag | Sandals | Right: Farm Rio dress | Sandals | Bag | Earrings | Denim jacket
We all like fun, happy, printed dresses, and Cara Cara and Farm Rio are two brands that immediately come to mind. The red one above is mostly sold out at Nordstrom and a couple of other places, but I found it here. Below are a few others you might like — you can’t go wrong for a casual event with a pretty floral dress.
#7 White dresses
Left: Cara Cara dress | Schutz sandals | Loewe bag | Right: Milly dress | Oscar de la Renta cardigan | Bag | Earrings | Sandals
White dresses are wardrobe classics, and If you look good in white, you can’t have too many! I mean, there are casual ones like the Frank & Eileen shirt dress, this Cara Cara one, and this gorgeous Milly one above that you could easily wear for both daytime and evening events. You’ll have them for years, so they’re worth the investment!
Don’t forget your undergarments
It’s smart to have a few lingerie options on hand so you’ll be prepared for when you find the perfect dress. I can’t say enough about the Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra — it’s a stylist favorite. Sometimes you need another option, and Nippies are surprisingly good! If you place them lower on your breast and then pull them up and stick the top part, you actually get a little lift (not like a regular bra, but workable, depending on your size and body shape). For shapewear options, I usually prefer these Spanx shorts or these Spanx lace panties — they are essentials at this point!
