These are the hottest shoe trends I saw in London!

England twice in one year … how lucky am I? If you’ve been following me for a while, you might know that both my parents are British, and I’ve spent a lifetime visiting family in England. We’ve also been fortunate to travel there as a family many times. My kids actually know and love their younger second cousins! But, if you can imagine, for all the times I’ve visited the UK, I’ve only made little day trips to London … until this year 🙂

This past February, I spent a sunny day in London shopping and doing “blog research.” My favorite department store, Selfridges, was bustling, packed with gorgeous handbags and perfectly merchandised displays. And, there was one department that was buzzing with excitement: shoes!! In particular, the sneaker shop in the shoe gallery was crazy busy, with men and women of all ages trying on everything in sight. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when I was back in London: I can confirm the shoe department is still buzzing, and the sneaker trend is still going strong!

Today’s post is about the hottest shoe trends I saw in London. As I mentioned in this blog post about the London Uniform, everyone is wearing black boots. In the past two seasons, I’ve noticed that boots have gotten a little update. For example, this season knee boots are everywhere, so add a pair to your collection to update your outfits. Keep reading to the shoe trends I spotted in London and how to style them, and scroll to the end to see what I brought home!

The hottest shoe trend: Sneakers

Anine Bing hoodie | AG jeans | Madewell brown coat | Prada bag | Gold earrings | Loci sneakers

SO … WHICH ARE THE HOTTEST BRANDS?

New Balance, Adidas, Nike, Veja and Alexander McQueen! Interestingly, the Golden Goose shop in Selfridges, which was next door from all the excitement, was completely dead. Not one single person was there, except for the bored salesperson. Of course, I’m not ditching my GGs any time soon, but I did make a mental note. 🤔

Below are some new sneaker styles I found for you, including the Loci ones above that came home with me. I thought long and hard about these Gucci sneakers, but decided to wait (they’re on my wish list). I’ve also eyed these Vejas for awhile, and tried them on while shopping at Liberty of London. Since my suitcase was getting full, I decided to order them once I got home. They’re arriving today, so stay tuned for my review!

Knee boots

Reiss coat | Tights | Boots | Red Bottega bag | Sweater dress | Earrings | Perfume

I spotted many women wearing knee boots (mainly flat ones) with dresses, skirts and oversized coats. They were usually wearing tights since the weather was cooler, and it looked practical yet chic. I’m including my favorite knee boots below, both flat and with a heel, since both are trending this season. I think it’s the newest boot style to add to our wardrobes … ASAP!

Everyday black boots

Scarf jacket | ATM t-shirt | Jeans | Boots | Red puffer tote | Sunglasses | Earrings

Everywhere I looked, black boots (of varying styles) were on the fashion set. The styles I saw while wandering the streets of London were mostly practical, like Chelsea boots (similar to this), and cool-girl boots with a more elongated toe like the Toteme ones or this J.Crew copy.

Socks and loafers

Rails coat | Coated denim | Sweater | Celine bag, similar | Gucci loafers

Socks and loafers are a thing right now, and when I was in England, I decided to give it a try. I must say my feet were SO much warmer! Many cool girls were wearing loafers, and I noticed that chunkier styles were popular. I still wear the classic Gucci loafers, but I picked up these white ones at Heathrow. Since they have a black sole, they feel more practical 😉 I’m certain, based on all the style board outfits I’ve made over the years, that they’ll get lots of use!

Stylish Slingbacks

Vince blouse and matching skirt | Slingbacks | Khaite bag | Black coat | Earrings

Slingbacks are among my personal favorite shoes to wear because they’re feminine and classic. You can wear them with dresses or skirts or your favorite denim, and you’re sure to look polished and chic. Below are some slingbacks you might like!

What I bought in London

Ba&sh jacket | ME+EM sweater | Veja sneakers | Loci sneakers | Chanel pin | Intaglio | Hermès watch | Perfume | Gucci boots | Gucci loafers | Mug and saucer | Celine bag

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m very selective about what I buy, particularly when I’m going to splurge. And, one of my favorite places to buy designer goods is World Duty Free at Heathrow! Heathrow Airport’s Duty Free is regularly ranked in the Top 5 in the world, so I took advantage on this last trip and picked up these Gucci boots and loafers.

I was served breakfast at the Chiltern Firehouse (my beautiful little hotel on the last few days of my trip) on these Burleigh classic Asiatic Pheasant plates, and I got inspired 😊 So, I grabbed these saucers to go with my existing mugs, and these rectangle plates as well. I collect plates, so this was a special treat!

After spritzing this perfume on myself for three days in a row, and deciding it was good, I decided to splurge at Nordstrom once I got back home.

Since my family is British, I love to find small home items to bring home. This intaglio paperweight from Penthreath & Hall is my little reminder of this wonderful trip!
