These keep selling out: Cinq a Sept dress | Sandals | Silver cuff | Lady Dior bag
6 dresses that keep selling out … everyone loves them!
I get lots of DM’s every day (which I absolutely love), and the single most asked question is what to wear to different events. Just this week, it was a baptism, a beach wedding, a birthday celebration, a cocktail party, and packing for vacation … to name just a few. And, I always have the same answer: A DRESS!! It’s the easiest way to pull a great outfit together, so having a few good dresses in your rotation is key. There are many different styles to choose from, and, in particular, there are 6 dresses that keep selling out … everyone loves them!
Since I have a handful of events coming up, including a hosting event at the Cinq a Sept store in NYC, I’ve been doing A LOT of dress research. In order to help you narrow down your choices, I’ve put together all my selections below. There’s everything from a slipdress (yep, they’re still trending) to the dress that keeps selling out to a classic LBD. I’m also including what to wear underneath, and of course, the shoes and accessories you need to pull it all together. I hope this post is helpful and gets you inspired for fall! Have fun at all your events 🥂
My favorite dresses
Vince | Cinq a Sept | TWP shirt dress | Vince slip dress
#1 ALC Renzo dress
Left: Blue ALC dress | Bracelet | Leopard clutch | Sandals | Right: ALC dress | Cult Gaia sandals | Feather bag | Cuff
The ALC Renzo dress is an all-time favorite style, and everyone I know who tries it on falls in love. Several years ago, I helped a good friend with this dress in black for the Kentucky Derby, and she looked amazing. Just recently, I helped my sister-in-law for her son’s wedding, and the lilac color was stunning. There are two versions: the Renzo (with a higher neck) and the Renzo II. Both are great, and I’m not partial to either style! I find this dress to run true to size, or just a bit large. Wear the Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra and this panty and you’ll feel beautiful no matter where you’re going.
#2 Slip dresses
Left: J.Crew slip dress | Cardigan | Sandals | Earrings | Clutch | Right: Veronica Beard slip dress, faux leather coat and turtleneck | Sandals | Earrings | Bag
Slip dresses are pretty much a staple at this point, and the styling options are endless! The crinkled satin Vince dress in either navy or black is a keeper, and I’ve gone on and one about it over the years. A more affordable option, but equally as good, is this J.Crew slip dress that’s only $98. I was skeptical that anything could come close to the Vince one, but I was pleasantly surprised. (They run TTS.) Also recommend anything by L’Agence or Veronica Beard. They often offer prints like this new one, and the bright colors are also really pretty.
#3 The $125 dress that keeps selling out!
When a dress keeps selling out over and over again, you know it’s a good one 😉 The Norma Kamali strapless dress is a favorite style for many. Everyone I know who has purchased it goes on and on about it! It packs well, and can be styled with flat sandals or sneakers, and anything from a denim jacket to a nicer blazer to a leather coat. I sized up to a small, since it’s a little body conscious, and I always wear these Spanx under it along with this strapless bra. Don’t wait — this is a good one!
#4 Casual dresses for daytime summer occasions
Left: Rails dress | Sandals | Bag, similar | Right: Spanx jumpsuit | Sandals | Loewe tote
Just this morning, someone texted me asking what to wear to take her daughter to college!.Easy, a dress 🙂 Pretty much every hot summer day, I wear a casual dress with slide sandals. I rotate between this Frank & Eileen one, this TWP shirt dress and the Spanx jumpsuit. Use my code SUSIEXSPANX for 10% off. These are all comfy, and perfect for warm weather.
#5 Bright, pretty dresses
Left: J.Crew dress | Earrings | Clutch | Sandals | Right: Zimmermann dress | Sandals | Clutch
Sometimes you just want to find something other than black! And for most occasions, you can wear a bright color any time of year. For an upcoming event, I’m planning on wearing this longer Zimmermann silk wrap dress that I picked up several months ago. I also noticed this one at J.Crew that’s gorgeous. See below for a few others that caught my eye.
#6 Anthropologie
Anthropologie is a store I check regularly both in person and online. I almost always find a dress or two to try. There are several choices, so I’m sharing four that recently caught my eye. One of their best-selling styles is the Somerset dress, available in any different versions, both short and long. Quite often you’ll find extended sizes, which is another reason I always look at Anthropologie. They have a good selection of petite sizes.
Don’t forget your undergarments
It’s great to have a few lingerie options on hand so you’ll be prepared in case you find the perfect dress! I can’t say enough about the Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless Bra — it’s a stylist favorite. Sometimes you need another option, and Nippies are surprisingly good! If you place them lower on your breast and then pull them up and stick the top part, you actually get a little lift. I mean not like a regular bra, but workable, depending on your size. For shapewear options, I usually prefer these Spanx shorts or these Spanx lace panties (seriously the best).
Shoes and bags that work every single time!
If you have several neutral shoes at varying heel heights, and a gold metallic sandal you love, then you’ll never have to wonder which shoe to wear with which dress. Trust me on this one, I’ve tested it, and between the lower heel Larroude sandals, these gold strappy ones and these suede ones by L’Agence, you’ll always be covered!
