These are the 2022 trends I will (and won’t) try!

These are the 2022 trends I will (and won’t) try!

The beginning of a new year is a great time to reassess our wardrobes, and to give our closets a ruthless clean-out! It feels SO good to remove things that aren’t working (or that you haven’t worn) and, well, just move on. I find that it actually makes getting dressed a LOT easier. It’s also the perfect opportunity to start a shopping list, and adding a few trend items gives everything a little refresh. However, every now and then, I remind myself it’s ok to skip a trend — which can be hard when you see it everywhere! Always go with what works for you.

Recently, Bobby Schuessler, the Senior Editor from Who What Wear asked about the trends I’m excited to wear in 2022, and the ones I might be skipping — keep reading below to see the list. Click here to read the recent article “I’m a Former Nordstrom Buyer – These Are The 2022 Trends I Will And Won’t Wear.” Remember, style is a personal choice, and it’s my belief that you can wear whatever you want. There are no rules; fashion is creative and personal, so really make it your own!

P.S. The So Susie website has gotten a little update! First, we’ve added a few shops – vacation, travel, and most recently, handbags. It has been really fun, and I hope you like them. Check out the latest IG Reels video here. Wearing: Vests

Won’t Wear as Much: Super-Chunky Knits

Pink vest | Mother denim | Veja sneakers | ATM tee | Chloe tote | Gucci sunglasses

“Vests are super stylish, easy to wear, and they add a layer of extra warmth. This comeback piece is so versatile. Throw it on over a tee or a long-sleeved blouse, pick a solid or a pattern, choose a sweater or a puffer or a knit. Whatever you do, have fun with it!”

Wearing: Wide-Leg Denim

Won’t Wear as Much: Skinny Jeans

“Yep, I said it—I’m rarely wearing skinnies these days. There’s nothing wrong with them, I’m just into wider-leg denim. The debate continues!” My Nordstrom stylist friend told me recently this Rag & Bone Maya jean can barely stay in stock!

Wearing: Relaxed Blazers

Won’t Wear as Much: Fitted Blazers

Cinq a Sept blazer | Cami | Mother denim | Pumps | Handbag | Sunglasses | Poppy Finch necklace | Bony Levy necklace

“Come 2022, I know I’ll prefer something a bit relaxed with my denim. A slightly oversized blazer feels more updated and casual, less uptight. This is one of my top three fave pieces. I wear mine with almost everything.” All-time favorites include this one by Cinq A Sept – (better stock here), this best-selling Theory one, and I just spotted this one at Anthropologie.

Wearing: Easy Dresses

Won’t Wear as Much: “Naked” Dresses

Vince dress | Balenciaga tote | Gucci sandals

“Moving into spring I’ll be wearing lighter-weight knit dresses, but definitely skipping the ‘naked’ dress trend.”

Wearing: Cutouts

Won’t Wear as Much: Too Many Cutouts

Cinq a Sept Sweater | Denim | Handbag | Schutz sandals

“I love the cutout trend, but for some of us, it can be a little tricky to wear, which is why I’m sticking to just a hint of skin!” – The sweater I’m wearing above I noticed is on sale here!

Wearing: Neutral Booties

Won’t Wear as Much: Standard Black Booties

Vince sweater | Mother denim | Chloe tote | Black Suede Studio boots | Faux leather blazer | Argento necklace | Bony Levy necklace

“I like a lighter-colored boot after wearing heavy boots all winter—mostly black of course. In 2022, go lighter. Plus, they’re so versatile, you’ll wear them every day!”

Wearing: Animal print Blouses

Won’t Wear as Much: Jewel-Toned Blouses

Flowy trench | Faux leather pants, similar | Stuart Weitzman boots | Reformation blouse | Gucci bucket bag

“Animal print is a trend that is here to stay, so in 2022, I’ll be trying different patterns of any kind. This ocelot print is new and different, and will look amazing with denim or black.”
