The Jean That’s Quietly Winning Everyone Over

Every now and then a new jean rolls in and quietly starts selling out. This is how all the cool trends begin, and it’s one of the really exciting things about working in fashion. Last year, I picked up the Mother Bookie jeans at Selfridges in London. Silly, really, because the price was double — but the weather was cooler than I expected, and I just wanted something to wear out for dinner with my cousins.

Fast forward to this spring, when the jean landed at Nordstrom and sold out almost immediately. Now it’s back, and there are also some new versions that have just arrived, including the new twist seam (above), and it’s available in petite sizes as well. And, I just noticed this new slightly darker wash — you’ll love it for fall. It’s a mid-rise, boot cut style, and it’s one worth trying. (For reference, I took my usual size 27.) Because it’s made of rigid denim, it isn’t super stretchy — but it does give, and once it does, you’ll never want to wash them!

Give one (or more) of these styles a try, and let me know if you like them. Denim is one of my specialties, and I can tell you this is the most popular jean of the moment … it’s quietly winning everyone over!

The Shop section on So Susie is one of my favorite spots the website. I spend hours looking for special pieces you’ll love 🤍

It has been a really long time since I’ve loved a sneaker so much, and it turns out I was a little late to the party on this one! I brought these on my last trip and they were super comfortable, and perfect for a long day of travel. They slip on and off (love the faux laces!) making it easy to get through security. But the best part is they also give a 2″ lift! These are one of my highest recommendations. For reference, I’m between a 6.5 and 7, and I went with the size 7.
