6 French-inspired staples that make the best outfits!

I often look to stylish French girls for outfit inspo. They’re known for effortless style, which always includes high-quality basics and lots of neutrals. The result is a timeless wardrobe that is so chic, you’ll always feel put together! This past summer, I was lucky enough to meet my bestie in Paris, and we felt like locals sipping rosé in the outside cafes of the trendy Pigalle district. Our boutique hotel, Soho House Paris, didn’t disappoint either, and both made for some great street style spotting. Check out this recent WWW article where I share 8 items I saw everywhere in Paris.

This week, my Nordstrom Stylist friends and I announced our September “N6 Drop” (a monthly drop of six of our favorite, best-selling items). We selected our favorite striped sweater, a classic trench coat, and of course, the best-selling jeans that work for almost everyone. Today’s post is about making good, solid everyday outfits for fall, and the 6 French-inspired staples that will help you put it all together. They’re stylish, very wearable, and I’m sure you’ll love them!

The brand new N6 September Drop

6 pieces you need now

#1 Trench coats … so French 😉

Trench coats are the starting point for your fall outfits, and the Parisian women have this item nailed. Typically they’re slightly oversized and worn loosely with everything from striped sweaters and denim to dresses to this season’s skirts. Some of my favorites include this one I wore all last winter, this J.Crew one and this Sam Edelman one, which is so well priced. I highly suggest grabbing one in the next several weeks — this way you’ll have the most important piece of French style.

#2 Classic Striped sweaters

Striped sweaters are another must-have piece, and the striped one I’m wearing above is back in stock! It was a favorite last winter. So was this Rails one, and now it’s back in this new color. It’s relaxed and reminiscent of this cool-girl Toteme one. I LOVE this new Rails cardigan, and it’s a high v-neck which means you don’t need to wear anything under it. See below for more striped sweater options.

#3 Stylish Scarves

This is another French girl staple, and I’m so happy to be seeing more and more scarves everywhere! I just spotted this one on my favorite Sheerluxe website, and ordered it immediately — it’s a good one. AllSaints also makes some of my favorites, and the prices are incredible. I like them because they’re thin and drapey without too much bulk. Perfect for when you want to add a scarf to a cardigan or your favorite coat.

#4 Totes under $700

I kind of think everyone should have a tote, even if you don’t work in an office. They’re practical, hold everything you need, and they’re super stylish. Here are some I rounded up for you, all under $700!

#5 Of-the-moment Ballet flats

Ballet flats have been making a comeback, and pretty much every designer has a version, from classic Chanel ballet flats to The Row cult favorites. Luckily for us, brands like Sam Edelman and Veronica Beard have interpreted the trend!

#6 AG jeans

AG is a favorite denim brand, and the Farrah and Mari are both best-sellers. They look good on pretty much everyone, especially this faded wash along with black and a darker grey wash. If you prefer longer lengths, that’s an option too — see here and here.
