I did a wardrobe makeover with these 7 items!
Last week, I worked on another Who What Wear article called “I’m a Former Nordstrom Buyer, and did my Wardrobe Makeover with these 7 items.” I’ll tell you a little secret: every time I hear from Bobby Schuessler, the Senior Market Editor, I get really excited! It’s so cool that Who What Wear continues to feature women over 40, and I’m honored to be one of them. As I always say, age doesn’t matter when it comes to style — and WWW is at the forefront of this effort. We all want to look and feel good, no matter how *young* we are! 😉
The back story on this bucket list opportunity goes like this: last year, during the second week of lockdown, I received an email from Kat Collings (Editor-in-Chief of WWW) asking me to do a “test” article. As you might imagine, I was beside myself! I’ve since worked on 15 articles with Bobby, and I’ve enjoyed every single one. This month, he was curious as to which items I was adding to refresh my wardrobe — the items I turn to over and over. I narrowed it down to 7, so keep reading to find out what they are and to see my new picks for each one!
#1 Statement Summer tops
Frame top | Levi’s 724 jeans| Sam Edelman sandal
“This breezy summer top is a must-have for date nights and is also super cute with denim shorts for daytime. I’m loving light summer tops with special little details like these ruffled straps. So pretty.”
#2 Black blazers
Veronica Beard blazer | Mother denim | Sandals | Balenciaga bag | Sunglasses | Shorter silver necklace | Longer silver necklace
“I refreshed my black blazer with this new one by Veronica Beard (it’s already a best seller), and it has completely transformed my wardrobe! I can wear it with pretty much anything, and it elevates the entire outfit. Plus, the hidden zipper and endless dickey options make it versatile, and just cool.”
#3 Square toe sandals
Frame shirt | Schutz sandals | Levi’s | Balenciaga bag | Sam Edelman sandals | Necklaces – here, here and here | Dior bracelets
“A square-toe sandal is a great start toward a shoe refresh, and this year, there are so many options to love! It’s a small detail, but it gives major designer vibes to every outfit.”
#4 Pink separates
Zara blazer | L’Agence silk cami | Levi’s 724 denim – LOVE | Sam Edelman sandals | YSL tote | Tom Ford sunglasses | Link necklace
I’ve been reading about the color pink for a long time, so I finally decided it was time to add a piece and transform my mostly neutral wardrobe to one with a pop of color. When I spotted this blazer at Zara, I knew it was perfect — slightly oversized and super easy to wear.”
#5 Sleek swimsuits
One shoulder swimsuit | Pink leopard shirt worn as coverup | Zara sandals | Sunglasses | Balenciaga bag | Earrings | Hat | Supergoop!
“This year, I’ve added a few one-piece swimsuits to my summer collection, and suddenly, I feel way more glamorous than I do in a bikini. Plus, a one-piece can transform into a bodysuit when worn with your favorite denim — so stylish!”
#6 Slip dresses
Black blazer | Slipdress | Sandals, similar | Balenciaga tote | Silver chain necklace | Silver rope necklace
“We all love a good slip dress, and this is one of my favorite purchases of the year so far! Since it’s cut on the bias, it’s very flattering. A slip dress also looks amazing with a denim jacket or a blazer. It’s pretty much the perfect dress.”
#7 White denim
Vince blouse | Sandals | Chloe handbag | Gucci sunglasses | Monica Vinader link necklace | Loren Stewart rope necklace| Fidelity jeans, Paige Nellie similar
