Forever Favorites: 25 Staples I Recommend to Everyone

This weekend, I spent a quiet time at home with my mom and family as we celebrated Easter. It was beautiful out, so I went outside to cut some branches to put in a new vase. Sometimes it feels good to just putter around the house – a little re-arranging and freshening up goes a long way. It reminded me of how many things I love, and that’s what inspired today’s post. Since spring just started, and many of us are spring cleaning, I thought it would be the perfect time to highlight 25 things that I recommend over and over … to everyone!

I’ve said this before, but writing this fun little blog is truly a career highlight … and honestly, a bit of a surprise. What started as a place to share style inspo with my clients and friends quickly grew into something much bigger. And, I’m loving every single minute of it! THANK YOU for following along and for giving me the chance to share what I know. I appreciate you 🤍

Today’s post shares forever favorites that I’ve personally tried and can guarantee how good they are. I follow my “authenticity promise” whenever I write here on So Susie, and I’m very very careful about what I feature on the blog. These faves are a bit of a mix — everything from the everything from the perfect pair of scissors (yes everyone needs them) to the only pant I think is worth buying to a newer brand I just discovered. Grab a cup of tea, this post is a little long, but I really want to give you value. I hope it’s helpful! 😊

Goodbye Basic White Tee: Here’s the Cooler Alternative

Spring Edition: Denim

Left: Rails top | AGOLDE Ren jeans | Tote | Sandals | Right: Frame blue shirt | Frame bootcut jeans | Prada bag | White pumps

#1 – Mother Lemon TwistI’ve worn these jeans every day for the last week, and it’s not often I find a jean that gives everything an update! When I first saw them, I was skeptical, and almost didn’t try them on. But the minute I did — wow was I surprised. They’re cool-girl jeans that have a twisted seam in the front, and they’re available in écru and faded blue. I bought both 🙂

#2 – Paige Anessa jeans in a new version – I’ve gone on and on about these viral jeans, and now there’s a new version with a twisted seam (similar to above but a different fit). It has a raw edge that feels fresh and updated. Check them out here and here — I highly recommend giving them a try.

#3 – Frame Rodeo mid-rise bootcut jeans These new jeans keeps selling out. They fit nicely, and the lower rise is a nice switch-up from all the high rise jeans we’ve seen for years. Click here to see all the washes, including leather. I also have a discount code: SUSIE15 for 15% off your order.

#4 – Mother Hustler Roller – This is another jean I’ve shared for a couple of years, and I just love this faded blue wash. I recently purchased this cropped white version (available in petites here), and it’s stretchy and super flattering. It happens to be one of the best-selling jeans at Mother. You’ll find it in long lengths, or a slightly shorter cropped version that’s perfect for warmer weather.  See more washes here and here.

Here’s two more …

#5 – Aritzia Lodge pantThis is another pant that’s gone viral — for good reason! They’re comfortable, the loose fit feels modern, and they’re the perfect update to leggings. Since they don’t wrinkle, I bring them on every vacation. And, when you arrive, you’ll still grab them to wear during the day with sandals, and at night with a small heel.

#6 – Everyone should have these scissors in their closets – I’m talking about Gingher scissors that are a total game changer. I I don’t know how I dealt with dull scissors my whole life — I’m so glad these came along. If you DIY your jean alterations, run and get these. You’ll thank me later!

Vacation Essentials I Swear By

Left: Varley 1/2 zip & matching pant here and here | Right: LSpace coverup | Staud swimsuit | Loewe tote

#7 – Cosmetic bag that’s only $12 – And gets a five-star rating! It holds everything you need. You’ll love the zip around, and it hangs nicely once you arrive so you can see everything you brought super easy.

#8 – The tech item that brings so much happinessSounds a little over the top, but I always bring a speaker on every trip. Just this past week in Palm Springs, it was nice to listen to my music while getting ready!

#9 – The TikTok viral sweatpant jeans – I know this sounds crazy, but the Rag & Bone Miramar has the best-selling “jeans” around, and everyone is talking about them. Made from 100% cotton terry, these pants are digitally printed to look exactly like denim, They give the appearance of jeans with the comfort of sweatpants. I’ve tested seven different styles (including a jacket) and they really are that good! This season there are some new pieces to check out. This new crop ankle flare, this skirt, these track pants, and of course the best-selling Sofie style.

Last three …

#10 – The #1 must-have weekender travel bag –  If you’re traveling anytime soon, the Beis Mini Weekender bag is a must-have. It is the perfect size, holds everything you need, and has a “trolley pass-through” that fits over your luggage handle — talk about convenient. Oh, and the price is really good too. I take this carry-on bag on all my trips.

#11 – Island Goddess One-Piece Swimsuit – There’s nothing better than a little ruching to disguise a tummy! This swimsuit gets good ratings. I bring the white one on every trip — as a matter of fact, I need a little refresh myself! This is one of my highest recommendations.

#12 – The linen set you’ll wear over and over againThis fun set by Vitamin A (oversized shirt & matching shorts & pants) is perfect for warm weather vacations. You can wear it to the pool, as well as for shopping and just hanging out. They keep adding new prints, like this pretty Watercolor Orchid one, and the blue stripe that’s finally back in stock. They’re comfortable, and look extra cute when hanging out at the beach.

Luxurious Items

Left: Silk robe | Right: Travel jewelry case | Baies candle

#13  – The luxurious silk robe under $200 – There’s nothing better than feeling a little extra in the morning when getting ready for your day. A silk robe will do that, and this washable one is hands down a favorite! It makes the perfect gift for yourself or a loved one.

#14 – Flamingo Estate candle – This might be my new favorite candle – and that’s saying a lot since I have candles everywhere! I recently discovered the newer brand Flamingo Estate – and now and I’m hooked! The packaging is so pretty, so is their website, and they’ve been written up everywhere. Besides the candle, I also tried this exfoliating peppermint soap (love), and this set, which is a perfect gift for you or a loved one 🙂

#15 – The softest pajamas you’ll ever ownI have a pajama obsession(!!) and I’m always trying new ones – specifically one with pants! My current favorite is this set by Lake. Their DreamModal fabric is so soft, and now I know why everyone talks about them. They’re so so soft, and also really comfortable. Give these a try, you’ll be happy you did.

#16 – The necklace you’ll never take offAdding a diamond necklace to your stack will take everything to the next level! It layers with every piece of jewelry you already have, and it’s pretty and sparkly. I’ve worn mine for two years straight, and I sleep and shower with it. You can use this code: SUSIEW15 for 15% off.

#17 The fragrance you’ll get compliments on all day longOne of life’s little luxuries is finding a signature scent that you absolutely love. My go-to fragrance is Rouge 540. It’s a little sexy, long lasting, and ideal for every day wear. The amount of compliments I get is incredible — no wonder it’s listed as the #1 most complimented fragrance out there! Another one to try is Portofino, which is my new favorite summer fragrance. The “blue enamel of the Portofino ’97 bottle is reminiscent of the blue waters of the Ligurian Sea.”

#18 The coolest cuff around – Ever since I laid eyes on the crazy expensive Tiffany Bone cuff that everyone talks about, it has been on my wishlist. So, when I spotted this more affordable version, I got pretty excited … then it sold out. The minute it came back in stock, I ordered it, and I’ve worn it many times. It’s a classic piece you’ll have for years, and it makes a statement so you hardly need any other jewelry. It’s in stock – but won’t be for long!

And Clothes … of course!

Left: Rag & Bone blazer | Mother jeans | Right: Tuckernuck dress | Sandals

#19 – Rag & Bone wool blazerThis is a newer purchase, and it sold out so quickly that I hardly got to talk about it! The lighter weight soft wool is stretchy, and feels more like a sweater than a blazer. It’s super comfortable, and it’s one of my top recommendations.

#20 – Unsexy panties that are so comfortableShhh don’t tell anyone, but these not sexy, super comfortable best-selling panties are really that good! It’s a secret in the lingerie department: this is the one panty everyone loves (and wears). They’re one size fits all (which is kind of crazy), and they come in several different styles. You’ll thank me later on this little tip 🙂

#21 – $49 Quince cotton sweater – If you want a quality cotton cardigan that’s only $49, this one is worth trying. It comes in a handful of colors and you’ll be surprised how much you wear it. In the winter, I’ve layered a turtleneck under, and now that the weather is warming up (try a cotton tank).

#22 – The $84 linen dress that’s amazing – No joke, I’ve taken this navy linen dress on every single trip for over a year. It’s ideal for hot weather, and the navy color feels elegant and sophisticated. Grab a matching navy $50 cashmere to throw over your shoulders when the sun goes down.

Bags & Shoes

#23 – J.Crew straw clutch If you’re looking for an affordable summer bag you’ll wear all season long, this is the one to consider. It sells out every year, so don’t wait!

#24 – Dehanche belts – I finally found a belt I’m excited about! These cool-girl belts are popping up everywhere, and when I found out Nordstrom started carrying them, I immediately ordered 3 to try! They’re the perfect width, the quality is amazing, and I love the gold and silver hardware. Funny enough, just yesterday I spotted this dupe, which is surprisingly so good!

#25 – Savette clutch – I’ve been eyeing this little clutch for a really long time, and the problem was deciding what color would be the most versatile. Well, I landed on poppy red, which I love, but now I’m considering going for another color. This is the specific style I love, and see all the colors here.

#26 – Clear strap sandals – I still love a clear sandal – and just when I thought they were going out of style – they came back! This new Veronica Beard one looks just like the Manolo one, and it’s so comfortable. Also love this Gianvito one and this best-selling Schutz one.
