Three Dresses Everyone Should Own

Left: Denim jacket, similar | Staud dress | Gold sandals | Middle: Sandro dress | Sandals | Right: Denim dress | Dior bag
Stylist tip: Having two or three (or more) dresses in your wardrobe that you can easily reach for will help you when getting ready for your events. You’ll always feel prepared, whether in advance or last minute. You want to be looking good and feeling great when heading out the door! See below for the three I most highly recommend.
#1 An LBD (little black dress) – My favorites include this best-selling ALC Renzo, this strapless, easy-to-pack Norma Kamali, and a versatile, always-chic slipdress like this one by Vince. For something different, look at this polka dot one, it’s gorgeous!
#2 An easy, everyday dress – These are dresses you can wear to daytime events. Try a classic shirtdress like this Veronica Beard, a striped one like this, Rails one. And, of course, a white dress is always a go-to — love this midi style one.
#3 Casual dresses – Easy, throw-on dresses are perfect for vacation or warmer days. I basically live in these once the weather goes above 80. This Frank & Eileen is really good, and Rails dresses like this striped linen one or this are also ideal for spring and summer. For super comfy options, a t-shirt style dress is great, and you might like this one.
Daytime Dresses: perfect for lunches or graduations

Left: Cardigan | Blue dress | Earrings | Straw bag | Gucci sandals | Right: Denim jacket | White dress | Gucci bag | Zara sandal
A daytime dress on hand will make it easy to get ready for any upcoming events you might have. You’ll feel dressed up, but not too dressed up, and they work with lower heeled sandals or taller ones. Switch up your accessories depending on where you’re going!
Other options to consider:
Tuckernuck: Probably my favorite dress brand – look at this, this and this
Cinq a Sept: Another great brand to consider – look at this blue printed one, this and this – Use code SUSIE15 for 15% off!
White dresses: Love this Cara Cara one (midi version here), this one by Frame and this denim one
Linen Dresses: Ideal for Summer

Left: Quince dress | Quince sweater | Sandals | Tote | Right: Denim jacket | J.Crew dress | VB bag | Schutz sandals | Sunglasses
If you’re looking for a stylish dress option to wear in warmer weather, I highly recommend a linen dress. Keep in mind, they don’t have to be perfectly ironed! As a matter of fact, I think they look better when they’re a little more relaxed. Quince makes some of the best ones, and they’re under $100. See below for more favorites.
Other options to consider:
Hands down, Quince has the best linen dresses, look at this, this and this. Don’t forget adding a $50 cashmere sweater to throw over your shoulders
This one by Reiss would be great warm weather days at the office (more sizes here)
Pink is the color of the season and this Veronica Beard dress is so pretty (more colors here)
Everyday Casual Dresses

Left: Frank & Eileen shirt dress | Ballet flats, similar | Straw tote | Cashmere sweater | Right: Pink dress | White sweater | Sandals | Chloe tote | Necklace
Casual dresses you can wear with flat sandals and straw totes are the perfect warm weather uniform. Consider wearing the Wacoal Body Base shorts under all your dresses — you’ll feel better, especially if the wind catches you 😉 Use code LOVE at Frank & Eileen for 15% off right now! You can check out other F&E faves here.
Other options to consider:
The Anthropologie Somerset dress is a best-seller, it comes in so many colors, patterns, lengths and available in regular, petite, tall, and plus
Another Anthropologie favorite is this Tommie midi dress with the pretty zipper detail
I absolutely love the Frank & Eileen dresses and since I’m only 5’1″, I wear the Mary dress on repeat, but if I was taller, I’d go for this one
It’s Wedding Guest Dress Season

Left: Tuckernuck feathers | Clutch | Sandals | Right: ALC dress | Earrings | Clutch | Gold sandals
If you have any upcoming weddings, here are a few dresses I found that will work perfectly. Try the new beautiful Tuckernuck one above for a black tie wedding guest dress, and for something more casual, look at this one.
Other options to consider:
ALC is a great brand – check out this long one (could work for Mother-of-the-Bride/Groom too) and this printed one
This pink Milly dress is so pretty, I love the pattern of this Cinq a Sept one, and this pleated one looks like ALC but it’s under $200
In addition to all the brands above, more to look at include Sachin & Babi, Mac Duggal, Nicholas the Label, Self Portrait and Eliza J
The Best Vacation Dresses

Left: Alemais dress | Dior bag | Sandals | Right: Farm Rio dress | Bag | Sandals | Hat | Perfume
Farm Rio is a favorite brand that everyone loves, both here and in Europe. Talk about fun and happy prints! And, they’re well-priced and offer many different styles. While doing some blog research at Nordstrom the other day, I got the inside scoop that these dresses are selling out … understandably. I love this longer style, and this shorter pink one.
This one looks like Alemais but for a fraction of the price!
Speakng of Alemais, this is a new favorite brand, and check out this pretty pink one and this one. Anthropologie has a great selection here
The Dress That Works For Every Occasion!

Left: ALC dress | Sandals | Gucci bag | Right: ALC dress | J.Crew cardigan | White clutch | Gold sandals
I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but this ALC dress works for so many events! This is one of those dresses that works for weddings, cocktail parties, dinners, you name it. Recently I was chatting with some stylist friends, and we talked about how versatile this dress is. In fact, pretty much everyone who tries it on ends up going home with it. Trust me on this one, it’s a great choice. What to wear under? The Red Carpet Strapless Bra, or this new one if you need less coverage, and these Spanx lace panties.
Other black options I love:
Cinq a Sept options: this gown that’s stunning, this flattering wrap dress and this bestselling one in a short or long version
