The Hottest Outfit Trend Seen Everywhere In NYC!

Just wrapping up a great trip to New York City where my daughter Em and I attended a fun NYFW event, and did some trend shopping, people watching, and of course, eating. These trips are always inspiring, and I return home on idea overload, excited to share everything with you.  Before leaving, Em planned our outfits on style boards — everything from travel day to shopping to the NYFW event at La Mercerie (see below). It was fun to get dressed up more than usual!

One thing I love about traveling is people/outfit spotting, especially when something resonates. This trip, we wandered through the city getting coffee at Saint Ambroeus, trend shopping on the Upper East Side and eating lunch at Bergdorf’s. And, I realized that all the stylish women were wearing a similar outfit: longer wool coats, casual jeans, loafers and great accessories.

Today’s post is about how to get the look that’s so popular in NYC right now. It’s stylish, relaxed and easy, and you’ll wear it non-stop through the next handful of weeks. Once the weather warms up, you can easily substitute the long coat for a lighter weight one. And, of course, if it’s snowing (like it is as I write this) you can substitute loafers for boots. Here’s to easy outfit planning! 🥂

Coats: Longer styles like this best-selling Aritzia one, this Mango one and this one.

Faded jeans: Casual looser leg styles like this AGOLDE, this pair by Frame and this Mother one.

Loafers: For designer loafers, look at these YSLs, or these Gucci ones. And, for affordable versions, look at this one and this pair by Rag. & Bone.

Cool accessories: Hats similar to this, scarves like this or this and designer bags like this and this. All so chic, and the finishing touches to every outfit

Shopping Day #1

Left (Susie): Jacket | Sweater | Jeans | Handbag | Ballet flats | Sunglasses | Right (Emily): Long sleeve | Trench | Jeans | Loafers | Handbag | Sunglasses

Jackets are the key to every outfit, and love this new leopard jacket and this longer trench – both are affordable

For casual shoes, these Chanel-inspired ballet flats are super cute. Em wore these loafers shopping and they’re stylish and really versatile

Shopping Day #2

Left (Susie): Cropped trench | Striped sweater | Mother jeans | Boots | Goyard tote | Earrings | Right (Emily): Blazer | White tee | Jeans | Loafers | YSL bag | Belt

I picked up this stripe frame top that works perfectly under so many things including this crop trench that’s back in stock

Em is on a blazer kick right now, and she found this one on our Zara visit in NYC

Faded jeans seem are perfect any time of year, and this Mother jean just came back in stock

LTK Night Event

Left: Pink feathers dress | Bag | Gold sandals | Right: Pink dress | Earrings | Pink bag | Gold sandals

I love feathers, and fell in love with this dress right away. For more affordable options, look at this and this one at Tuckernuck

Everyone should have gold sandals and this one by Manolo is so pretty. I also spotted this one that’s more affordable

Dinner & Drinks

Left (Susie): Sweater jacket | Trousers | Handbag | Prada slingback | Earrings | Right (Emily): Blazer | Pants (similar/pair Emily wore here) | Slingback | Handbag | Necklace

Em picked up this Row lookalike on Amazon, and even the salesperson at Saks thought it was the real one

The Le Teckel bag is the “it” designer bag to own, and now everyone is doing a version from Veronica Beard to this cool one

Travel Outfit

Left (Susie): Mango coat | Jeans | Sneakers | Tote | Luggage | Sunglasses | Right (Emily): Coat | Tank | Jeans | Luggage | UGG Slippers | Hat | Headphones
