I Went Trend Shopping In NYC: Here’s What I Found!

Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to spend several days in NYC doing a little trend shopping, street style spotting and, of course, eating! These trips are fun and inspiring, and I always return home on idea overload. The purpose of the trip was to do “blog research,” which is basically trend shopping, people-watching and touching and feeling anything that catches my eye. And, I hit all our favorite stores, which I’ll share with you below.

As we all know, shopping online isn’t necessarily easy. Seeing the product firsthand helps me select the items I’m going to feature on the blog. As always, I strive to remain authentic and honest, so the pieces that end up here are ones I’ve either purchased, helped someone with, tried on, or want to try. This is my “authenticity promise”  to you, and I take it very seriously.

It was a very successful trip, and I’m excited to show you my insider finds. Today’s post features shopping highlights, tips on what to buy from your favorite brands, and a few recent purchases. I covered a lot of ground in four days, and got the inside scoop by asking the salespeople and managers questions about fit, top sellers, etc. I hope you find this post helpful when it comes to making your next online purchases!

Where I stayed: Fouquet’s New York

Situated in the Tribeca neighborhood, Fouquet’s is a new hotel that has quickly become a hot spot. I’m so glad I found it! Beautiful interior design, amazing service, and a super cute cobblestone street in front all added to the stay. Of course, the minute I walked into my room, I knew it was going to be the perfect home base. Since I was alone this time (and was tired at night), I enjoyed the place next door for dinner — two nights in a row! Also, I loved seeing all the locals and overhearing their conversations 😉

Susie’s shopping finds & wishlist: burgundy & black

Top row: Max Mara puffer | J.Crew coat | Anine Bing tee | Anine Bing tweed jacket | Veronica Beard jacket

Bottom row: Ba&Sh tweed jacket | Ba&Sh cardigan | Anine Bing skirt | Frame Le Slim Palazzo | Frame light wash jean | Frame Straight

Accessories: Loewe bag | Prada scarf | Frame belt | Gold earrings | Schutz sandal | Tony Bianco boot | Staud boot | Anine Bing slingback | Tory Burch bag

Shoes that caught my eye

Not the prettiest images: Schutz slingbacks | Reformation boot | Suede slingbacks | Snake slingbacks | BR boot | Khaite slingbacks | Loafers

Spotted many slingbacks: Bought these Schutz in black, eyeing the Jimmy Choos, love these Givenchy buckle cool-girl ones and the Khaites are super comfortable

Loafers are still showing up everywhere! These affordable ones by Schutz are really cute, and so are these by J.Crew

It’s boot season: These designer-inspired ones at Reformation are amazing. I bought these best-selling Staud ones, and everyone needs knee boots

Susie’s purchases in NYC

Frame cardigan | Paige Anessa

Found too many things at the Frame store: This chunky cardigan, this blouse, this white tee, these jeans, and this cropped trench

Walked in to the Simkhai store and tried on lots of dresses. Brought home this one with faux leather, and this knit one

Loved the ba&sh store, and recommend this faux leather jacket and this best-selling cardigan in brown

Black was the theme of my purchases: this skirt, this cool all season Theory bomber and these boots

Couldn’t get everything home, so splurged on this suitcase in shiny green with a cute monogrammed tag

Rag & Bone was buzzing

Rag & Bone ponte blazer | COH jeans | Sandals | Tote

I stopped by the Soho Rag & Bone store, and the sales people couldn’t keep up!

Jeans everyone was trying on: Peyton, Miramar Sofie (cotton terry and perfect for travel), and the best-selling Logan jean

The Slade blazer comes in many versions: Wool (my favorite), ponte (love the camel color), and faux leather (swooning over)

This is such a great cardigan: Navy classic stripe

LOVE their boots: this everyday casual one and this chelsea boot are perfect for cold weather

Everyone is wearing a sweater over their shoulders!

This Veronica Beard cardigan has a built in scarf so you get the look

My two favorites for layering over your shoulders: Quince $50 cashmere and this Sezane one
