Your Pre-Fall Capsule Wardrobe is Here: All New!

One thing I absolutely LOVE to do is create capsule wardrobes, and having endless outfit combinations is helpful for all of us! This time of year is always so exciting, with Copenhagen Fashion Week kicking off the start of some really cool street style. And, since fall is around the corner, it’s a great time to start thinking about our closets! Your pre-fall capsule wardrobe should be comprised of elevated, versatile, well-fitting items. Add a couple of trendy pieces that will bring all your outfits to life, and you’ll have everything you need! This month, I was inspired by touches of green and black, combined with faded blue and white. These colors always read timeless and sophisticated, and they’re perfect for this time of year.

I’m always searching for brand new pieces that make stylish outfits. For many years, this was my work in “Room 3” at Nordstrom, and it was truly a dream job. But things changed … this little blog took off, and I was able to give “dressing room experiences” online to many people across the country. I’m still counting my blessings, since making outfits is my happy place 🤍

Today’s post features the all new pre-fall capsule wardrobe I’ve created for you. I believe in carefully and thoughtfully purchasing pieces that can be worn many different ways. This month, I looked for items you can wear now, and again later when the season changes. For example, a denim shirt jacket is a year ’round staple, and so is a relaxed black blazer. Many of these items are proven, meaning they’re best sellers, fit well and are worth every penny. Keep this post for reference … you’ll use it for the rest of the year! ⭐️

It’s always hard to narrow this down, and I spend hours carefully selecting these items 🤍

All-important jackets

When I start working on capsule wardrobes, it’s the jackets or third pieces I think about first. Not only are these the pieces you’ll have for years to come, they’re also the starting point for cool outfits. Here are the details on what I selected:

#1 – L’Agence double breasted cardigan: This longer white cardigan has a hint of lurex, and is a flattering, ultra-chic style that works perfectly with the matching cami and your favorite jeans. Other styling ideas include pairing with a skirt, with trousers or over a dress.

#2 – Rag & Bone trench coat: Finding a cool trench coat you love gives you another highly recommended wardrobe staple. Talk about versatile! You’ll wear it with everything, from dresses to denim to trousers. Layer it with a hoodie and wear it on the weekends with sneakers. Or, dress it up with cool boots and your favorite jeans. I spotted this new longer one by Reiss, which I absolutely love.

#3 – Moncler jacket: If you’re up for a splurge, this new jacket is gorgeous. The grossgrain trim, double zip and elevated styling make this special piece you’ll have forever! If you prefer a lower priced one, look at this Veronica Beard or this new one by Pistola. Also, quilted jackets are everywhere, and I suggest finding one that you can make lots of outfits with!

#4 – Anine Bing denim jacket: I think a denim jacket is a cool piece to add to your fall lineup, and I love this new one by Anine Bing. The gold button detail makes it look a little more dressed up, so it’s still really versatile. I was on the fence and almost went with this Pistola shirt jacket which is also cool-looking, but more casual. Either one makes a great wardrobe staple.

#5 – Aritzia relaxed blazer: I’m always looking for the perfect black blazer, and this one checks all the boxes! It’s versatile as well, and relaxed so you can wear it with jeans, shorts, etc. The crepe fabric allows you to wear it all year long. This is a good one!

#6 – Faux leather bomber: Adding a cool leather or faux leather jacket to your wardrobe is so important! It adds a little edge, and you can find something at any price point. Either route you go, your outfits will feel a little more luxe. I was torn on which one to choose between the AllSaints one I’m wearing in the opening photo and this brand new one.
