What Everyone is Wearing on the French Riviera

It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks! Between a buzz of events in LA and San Diego and now a “work vacay” on the French Riviera, it wasn’t easy to pack 😉 Luckily, the work clothes got left behind in Portland, and I quickly continued on with a full suitcase of stylish outfits to wear in the south of France. “Riviera Chic,” at the moment, includes crisp whites, breezy linens, crochet everything and still-trending basket bags.

On the itinerary …

🤍 Cannes: I got to catch my breath at my favorite hotel in Cannes, the Carlton Cannes. After reuniting with my luggage (yes, it didn’t make my flight), I had a lovely dinner on the beach. Then, I sat in the hotel’s beautiful lobby bar and reminisced. Last summer, my best girlfriend and I took a special trip to Paris and Cannes, and it was truly memorable!

🤍 St Tropez: Now we’re at the super quaint Hotel La Ponche, perfectly situated in the heart of St Tropez. La Ponche is a Mediterranean-style boutique hotel, with a sexy bar and a shaded, outdoor restaurant. Our room is perfect; it has a spacious patio overlooking the water, and a living room where we can relax and work. We spent a day at the famous Byblos Beach Club, and enjoyed a lunch of pasta and rosé — and a nap! We also squeezed in a little shopping and people-watching, so now I can give you the current report on “Riviera Chic” aesthetic.

Today’s post shows you what everyone is wearing on the French Riviera, along with what I packed for 10 days in France. I must say, it’s so much fun to see the trends firsthand, like the “It Shoe” and elevated beachwear. You might want to save this post so you have a proven reference guide. Since many of you are traveling to Europe this summer, it might be helpful! Cheers 🥂

Everyone is wearing the “IT” shoe

The Hermès Oran sandal contiues to be the shoe of choice here on the French Riviera. Yesterday, I was excited to visit the Dior store, which is located in a beautiful old home surrounded by gorgeous gardens. Of course, there was a line to get in. So, I did a little people watching, and immediately counted — no joke — at least 15 pairs of Oran sandals in the ten minutes I was waiting! There were multiple colors, but predominantly black, white and cognac. The Dior Dway slides came in at number two (I have a pair myself and love them as well). Check out this Steve Madden one, and see below for a more affordable version!

Everyone is doing a beach collection

For months, I’ve been reading about all my favorite designers and their beach collections. So, I was really excited to discover the amazing designer shopping in St Tropez. There is everything from Celine to Miu Miu to Dior, Gucci and Jimmy Choo. The collections are filled with colorful swimwear, crochet hats, straw bags, sandals and summery silk scarves. However, it’s important to note that while many of us don’t buy designer pieces, all the fashion inspo for the current season and beyond starts at the top!

Everyone has a basket bag

The basket bag continues, and I saw more than ever on this trip! There are all shapes and sizes: some have white trim and others have black, and Valentino went all out with a starfish motif — which I kind of like! The point is, go ahead and invest in a basket bag. Get one that fits your budget — you’ll wear it all the time. Below are some that have caught my eye lately.
