These Fall outfit combos work every single time!
I love working on articles with Who What Wear, and you can imagine how honored I am when asked for my “advice” on fashion and styles. My partnership with WWW is over three years old now, and I continue to be extremely proud to be affiliated with them. Recently, my friend and Senior Editor Bobby Schuessler asked me which outfit combos are ones that always work. Well, that’s easy, since I recently wrote about a few ideas in this post! After sorting through my closet over the past couple of weeks, I’ve zeroed in on which pieces make the best outfits, and I’m excited to share them with you. You’ll notice that the items are ones I mention regularly. For example, a sweater and slip skirt is a favorite combo, and right now, the options are endless. Of course trench coats and striped sweaters are also fall basics, and they just so happen to make the best outfits. Remember to focus on the items you truly love and feel good in! In my opinion, it’s actually better to have fewer pieces — this makes getting dressed much much easier.

Silky blouse and wide-leg jeans

Silky blouses always look a little extra, and whether you go for a print or a solid, they look amazing with denim. Pair a silky blouse with wide leg jeans for a stylish, updated look. I just purchased this gorgeous Vince blouse, and can’t wait to wear it. L’Agence always has a few I love — check this one out. I always recommend a black blouse to all my friends and clients and this Frame one is a favorite!
Camel jacket and black jeans

Camel and black is a classic fall combo. It always reads sophisticated, and you’ll reach for these pieces over and over again because they’re just easy to put together. Some camel favorites include this wrap coat, this sweater, this scarf and this boot — all so classic and stylish.
Dresses that take you to any occasion

Having a few statement dresses on hand makes getting dressed for all your events super easy. This one by J.Crew is a favorite, and the color is beautiful! I also love this new one and this one too.
Sweater and slip skirt

We all love a good matching skirt and sweater set, and each piece is versatile on its own, which is an added bonus. Skirts are trending this season, and slip skirts in particular are flattering on most everyone. This is the perfect fall outfit combo! This past week, I shared this J.Crew sweater and slip skirt in navy blue in this Reels video. I’m also wearing it this week in New York.
Striped sweater, trench coat and jeans

Trench coats are a wardrobe staple and have been for a long time. For a classic fall combo, try a slightly more relaxed style of trench with a striped sweater and trousers or denim. This classic Favorite Daughter one is worth a look, as well as this Sam Edelman, and of course this Burberry. Finish it off with a striped sweater — the one above was just re-stocked. Cardigan and ecrú denim

Once the fall season starts, I recommend transitioning from white jeans to écru. They’re just as neutral, and can look a little more polished (I love this Paige one). When it comes to cardigans, J.Crew does such an amazing job — love this one and this one. When I was shopping in New York, I popped into the ba&ash store and fell in love with this cardigan, available in 7 colors here. It’s a great one!
Blazer and slingbacks

A great blazer, like the above classic by Veronica Beard, is the perfect way to provide a little polish to any outfit. And, adding slingbacks helps keep everything looking current for fall. I love this new Celine-inspired jacket, it’s another best seller and I bought it along with my 5’6 tall friend! For a relaxed go-with-everything blazer, this Cinq a Sept one is a good one.
Black with faded denim

When you don’t know what to wear, black and faded denim always work. And, if you add a contrast accessory like a bag or boots, it adds some interest to your outfit. This is my fall uniform!
