The one color that works magic on every outfit!
Several years ago, I was helping a friend at Nordstrom. When we walked into the dressing room., I discovered the most beautiful bag in a creamy saddle brown caramel color. At the time, it was the “it” bag seen all over the streets of NYC during Fashion Week! And there it was, lying just on the bench 🙂 Sure, the Loewe Puzzle bag is still considered a classic — but it was the color that captured my heart. The beautiful outfits that were created around this gorgeous bag were so elevated and sophisticated, it really took everything to the next level.
Caramel is the one color that works for ALL seasons. It compliments all other colors: black, white, gray, navy, chambray, pink, bright pink, tan, green … I think you get the idea! Caramel (aka cognac or saddle brown) is sophisticated, elegant and timeless — a true classic. I’m even going to add leopard (look at this sandal) to this list, since it’s in the same color family and works just as easily with all the other colors. Talk about versatile! So now the question is: which caramel-colored pieces should you invest in? Keep reading and I’ll give you my best suggestions!

First, invest in a great bag
This is probably the most important caramel-colored piece to own. Find one you love at a price that works, and then make the investment. This See by Chloe wallet on a chain immediately sold out once my Nordstrom6 friends and I mentioned it. I’m sure it will come back, but for now, I’ve found it here. I’ve always adored the Loewe Puzzle bag, and lately I’ve been loving the Loewe Flamenco bag. For spring and summer, try a straw bag like this Instagram favorite. Below are a few other options I think you’ll really like!

Then, make sure you’re covered re: shoes
I suggest making sure you have a great everyday sandal for warmer weather. I love this YSL one, and for similar and way more affordable options, look at this Sam Edelman one and this one too. This block heel style was in the N6 drop last month, and if you’re looking for a strappy style, this Schutz one is amazing. Just choose one that’s versatile, and it will go with every single thing you own. Again, caramel is the one color that always works!

Accessories are the finishing touch
Accessories finish off an outfit, so definitely add a caramel-colored belt! This affordable one by Madewell is a great color. For a designer splurge, try this Celine one or this Loewe one. Watches are another way to add a little color – and a scarf to tie on your bag isn’t necessary, but really fun if you find one you love!
