The best shoe trends to wear with dresses!
I love working on articles with Who What Wear, and you can imagine how honored I am when asked for my “advice” on fashion and styles. My partnership with WWW is over three years old now, and I continue to be extremely proud to be affiliated with them. Recently, my friend and Senior Editor Bobby Schuessler asked me which shoe and dress trends I’ll be wearing with dresses this spring. Well, that’s easy since it’s dress season and the shoe choices are plentiful right now! You can read the article here.
After sorting through my closet the past couple of weeks, I’ve zeroed in on which dresses and shoes work best together, and I’m excited to share them with you. You’ll notice that the shoe trends are quite versatile; these selections can be paired with everything from denim dresses to special event dresses to everyday tennis dresses. Spring is the perfect time to edit your closet — remember to focus on the items you truly love and feel good in! In my opinion, it’s actually better to have fewer pieces — this makes getting dressed much much easier.
P.S. Today’s post is a recap from my latest WWW article. Remember, when the article first appears in WWW, the clothing selections are made by Bobby and his team (he also chooses the title). But, when I recap the article, the items shared are MY picks! I hope you like them 😊

This is the hottest shoe trend in London
Metallic shoes
Veronica Beard dress | Cult Gaia sandals | Gold clutch | Sunglasses
Metallic shoes and accessories are almost neutrals at this point, and they work for every season. Whether you choose gold, silver, or any other shade, they’ll give your outfit a little flair and sparkle.
Retro Sneakers
Vuori dress | Naghedi tote | Adidas Samba
Sneakers are the shoe of choice right now, and they look super stylish when worn with dresses. Any casual dress goes! It can be a pretty floral dress, or a tennis-inspired style like the one I’m wearing above. Everyone from London to Paris to New York is wearing sneakers with dresses. Plus, it’s comfy — and cute too.
Embellished shoes
ALC Renzo dress | Gucci heels | Cult Gaia sparkly bag
Shoes with a little sparkle add so much style to a dress outfit! You might think they’re only for special events, but break them out whenever you feel like it. Not only can they be worn all year long, but they also look great with denim outfits.
Caramel shoes
Loewe tote | YSL sandals | Sunglasses
Every closet should have a good neutral shoe collection, with at least one caramel pair. Neutrals are the easiest shoe choice to make because you can wear them with any outfit. Heels, sandals, or flats, you can’t go wrong here!
Strappy sandals
Zimmerman dress | Schutz Ariella mules | Lady Dior bag | J.Crew bracelets, here and here
Strappy sandals are another perennial favorite, and this time of year they’re perfect for a special event that needs a little something extra. The Schutz Ariella mules I’m wearing in the photo above look incredible with any dress you choose! (I know they don’t look like mules, that’s just the name 😉). Absolutely love these.
Clear (transparent) sandals
Rag & Bone shirt dress | Larroude sandals | Tory Burch bucket bag | Necklaces here and here
I often choose clear or transparent sandals in the summer when I’m wearing brightly colored dresses. They make your legs look a little longer, and they’re also really versatile. Clear strap shoes work with dresses of every color. The Larroude ones I’m wearing in the photo have a clear, 2” heel – they’re pretty much perfect! Check out these ones for under $30 from Target or these Schutz Victorie sandals – my go to for the last few years!
Neutral shoes
Farm Rio dress | Loeffler Randall sandals | Chloe Basket tote
Every closet should have a good neutral shoe collection. Neutrals are the easiest shoe choice to make because you can pair them with any outfit. They’re also super flattering because they elongate your legs – just choose a pair that’s close to your skin tone. Heels, sandals or flats, you can’t go wrong here!
