Your May 2023 Capsule Wardrobe: All new!
I love to create capsule wardrobes, and having endless outfit combinations is helpful for all of us! A solid wardrobe foundation makes getting dressed easy and effortless, and also helps you be prepared for any occasion. This wardrobe should be comprised of elevated, versatile, well-fitting pieces. When these pieces are combined, they make stylish outfits for all your upcoming events. This month, I was inspired by the simplicity of white and black, combined with neutrals. These colors always read timeless and sophisticated, and I love to add a touch of color, in this case, pink.
One of my favorite things to do is find brand new pieces that make the coolest outfits. For many years, this was my work in “Room 3” at Nordstrom, and it was truly a dream job. But things changed … this little blog started taking off, and I was able to give “dressing room experiences” online to many people across the country. I’m still counting my blessings, since making outfits is my happy place 🤍
Today’s post features the May capsule wardrobe I’ve created for you. I believe in carefully and thoughtfully purchasing pieces that can be worn many different ways. So, many of these items are proven, meaning they’re best sellers, fit well and are worth every penny. These stylish jackets will get you through most any social situation. For example, a black blazer looks amazing with denim — look at this nice linen one from J.Crew. Vests are everywhere this season, and how cool is this new white one from Rag & Bone? Of course, you can never have too many denim jackets! Check out this brand new belted style, and this new gray wash. I included a lightweight trench coat since many of us are always looking for the perfect one. May is the perfect month for a trench. I found this one at Mango, along with this tweed jacket I’ve been eyeing for several weeks. These all complete many many outfits!

A few good layering pieces will cover you for all occasions. For example, stripes are really popular right now. This new Frame tee is so cute with its side ties! An oversized poplin shirt is a year-round staple, and I love this short sleeved style. The pink striped one looks great open like a jacket. Last year, this sweater tank sold out, so I was excited to spot it again. Finally, this $69 linen cardigan is perfect for spring and summer, and it’s a basic everyone should own!

Ideally, owning three pairs of jeans or pants (white or écru, faded denim and black) will cover you in the wardrobe department. Consider this white linen trouser for a non-jean option, it’s perfect for warmer weather. If you love shorts, the AGOLDE Parker is a best-seller. This jean by Rag & Bone is one of my favorites, and it’s perfect any time of year. These faded black jeans are my new purchase, and I absolutely LOVE them! Since everyone is looking for the perfect dress, this ALC one had to be included. It’s SO good, everyone who tries it falls in love. Finally, this new Farm Rio jumpsuit is really cute, and in fact, is the piece that inspired this entire capsule!

Fun, stylish accessories elevate all your outfits, and I recommend investing in the best bag you can. I’d love to own every single bag in this capsule! For now, I’m investing in this new canvas tote, while dreaming about the others. These are the pieces that truly work magic for every outfit. Another way to take your outfits to the next level is to own a couple of pieces of statement jewelry. For example, this new Gucci pin is gorgeous! You could add it to the white vest above, or to any denim jacket, or over a beautiful scarf. And, sunglasses always add a glamorous touch — a pair (like these) that you feel really good in works wonders! With the sun back out in May and summer around the corner, this is the ideal time to find the perfect pair of sunnies ☀️

Sneakers are usually one of my first suggestions since they go with everything — especially now. Also, a great black sandal like this one is versatile, and this style goes with everything. For a more casual heel, the Tory Burch slide reminds me of the Dior one, except a little more budget friendly. Recently, I picked up this raffia slide and I’ve worn them several times already. Finally, a sneaker is a must-have item and these new ones by Veja caught my eye.
