Oh how I love a new season! Something feels every exciting about the coming months … there’s a renewed optimism in the air. People are planning events and making travel plans, and we all have places to go again — how fun! New York Fashion Week has begun, and I’ve been perusing all my top websites in search of cool outfit inspo to share with you. There are SO many new things, both in-store and online, that I thought I’d talk about how to shop your favorite store: an insider’s guide!
If I told you I started working at Nordstrom in 1982, you might wonder how old I actually am 😂 But believe it or not, it’s true! And after many years as a buyer, and many more as a stylist, I feel like I kinda know what I’m talking about (wink). So, consider me your trusted source for how to navigate Nordstrom.com to get the best of the spring season — highly edited, on trend, and super stylish — before it’s all gone!

Today’s post is all about these brand new discoveries (and more) that I’m happy to share with all of you. So, start looking forward to the warmer months ahead, and find a thing or two you love!

Beautiful, brand new dresses
It’s dress season, and there are many great options — everything from a Veronica Beard poplin striped dress to t-shirt dresses to longer style midi dresses. I can’t think of a more effortless way to get ready in the morning! It’s one and done, and pretty much all you need for any kind of sunny vacation or warm springtime day. For evenings, just throw on a denim jacket or my favorite: a sweater over your shoulders. Easy!

This is the year of shoes, and let me tell you there are SO MANY beautiful styles this year! The party shoe is everywhere. The exciting thing about this fun trend is that you can wear it with denim during the day, or to a special event at night. Also, embellishments are showing up on heeled sandals and flat ones too — love, love, love! And there’s the jelly sandal trend — the hottest style right now, and everyone’s making their own version in really fun colors. See my favorite shoes below.

Fun new jewelry that’s pretty, bright and not expensive
It has been a while since I’ve fallen in love with colorful jewelry, and it all started again when I spotted this Kate Spade earring. Now, I’m seeing this trend everywhere! The great thing is these mix beautifully with your own pieces, and the prices are very reasonable. (I have these earrings in my basket, and this necklace too.) Speaking of jewelry, diamond layers are the must-have pieces to add — I can’t say enough about this Nadri necklace and bracelet. The necklace is my new favorite!
Hot new trend in denim: think flares and dark
Last fall, I was so excited about the dark denim trend that I wrote about it as THE denim wash to buy. Then I hardly saw any pieces to buy, ha ha! But now there are many choices, and I believe as we move into fall this year, it will be everywhere. I just purchased this dress and these jeans, and have my eye on this pair of jeans as well. Check them out!

The trend I’m so excited about: cotton poplin shirts
My excitement started when I spotted a fashion girl wearing a Valentino bright pink cotton poplin shirt dress (see the pic here). Ever since then, I was smitten! This Citizens of Humanity best-selling “Kayla” shirt just arrived at Nordstrom, and I picked up this navy one. It’s available in several colors and I highly suggest this shirt for EVERYONE! Cute dresses are also along the lines of the favorite poplin shirt trend. Check out this one, this one and this one.
Favorite beauty finds — it’s time to switch it up for spring
Whenever the seasons change, I like to switch up my beauty routine a bit. Besides making sure to use an SPF every day (my favorite is this Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, SPF 30), I start thinking about self-tanner. Tan Luxe is the brand I’ve been using — the drops are easy to use, and this body cream is perfect for your legs. I also often switch fragrances in the spring. You might love this one, especially if you’re going on vacation. And, there’s nothing like a brighter eye and pretty new lipgloss to make you feel a little springy!
