Cool trends I spotted everywhere in NYC!
Plus favorites at each store
There’s a reason New York City is at the forefront of the hottest trends and the best street style … it’s the fashion capital of the world! This past week, I was lucky enough to spend several days there checking out the scene, eating great food, and getting inspired. The city was full of energy, and all the locals were outside enjoying the gorgeous, warm sunshine. The purpose of the trip was to do “blog research,” which is basically trend shopping (of course), people-watching and touching and feeling anything that catches my eye! Of course, I hit Nordstrom first — but more on that later. Right now I want to tell you about all the cool trends I spotted everywhere in NYC!
By day 2, it was apparent that there were several key items everyone was wearing, not only the style set. We’re talking hip, super stylish, very wearable clothes. Who doesn’t love great pieces that will make getting dressed super easy? Today’s post is about all the best things I found by store in NYC. Believe me, you’ll want to try some of these, no matter where you live!

White sneakers
Literally everyone was wearing white (or mostly white) sneakers! And with everything: dresses, silky skirts, shorts, black pants (all lengths) and of course, faded denim. I saw classics like Puma, New Balance and Reebok, and many others. I showed up in all black Rag & Bone sneakers, but now I’ve decided to add a white sneaker to the mix 😉
Oversized blazers & Baseball hats
Oversized blazers worn as jackets have been trending for a while now, but it was out in full force on the streets. Blazers are getting longer and a little looser. Every cool girl was wearing an oversized blazer, along with a baseball hat. I’m in search of what’s new in this department, so I’ll keep you posted!
Designer handbags & Faded denim
Since the weather was warm and sunny, it felt like everyone was outside! It made for some great people watching, which is the best way to see what is popular at any given time. I noticed that women of ALL ages were carrying designer bags, especially ones by Gucci, YSL and Louis Vuitton — just to name a few. All so beautiful, and very very chic! Faded denim was also spotted everywhere, both cropped and full length styles.
Nordstrom NYC
First stop in the city was the brand new Nordstrom NYC (guess I can’t stay away!). The store opened just before the pandemic, and was a really big deal within Nordstrom insiders. I was mesmerized walking through the beauty department, and could have stayed there for hours … the displays were stunning. The Diptyque section was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, and I picked up a Gucci lipstick and powder simply because of the pretty packaging! Here’s a style board with inspo and a few other favorite finds.

Reiss store
Years ago, while shopping in London, I discovered the Reiss store and fell in love with the brand. Reiss is known for simple, elegant, sophisticated clothing in neutral colors. It’s carried by Nordstrom, so I was excited to see a large selection in-store. The double-faced wool/cashmere wrap coats caught my eye, as did these handbags and this lightweight puffer. All so easy to wear!

Banana Republic
Since our local Banana Republic store closed this past year, I haven’t been inside a store in quite some time. I wasn’t too disappointed considering the past few years haven’t been great at BR … until now. The store in SoHo is really well designed, and it was buzzing! I purchased this lightweight car coat, this silk shirt dress and this leopard silk dress. Look below for more recommendations.

Intermix is one of my top website destinations. All the cool trends are covered here, and they carry some of my favorite brands, like Veronica Beard , Frame and Mother. The store in SoHo was packed, and I spotted many covetable items, including a great selection of Golden Goose and ALC.
