5 ways to get your wardrobe ready for fall!

Today in Portland, I noticed a hint of fall everywhere, from empty shelves in Walmart due to a back-to-school rush, to cozy sweaters and candles in all my favorite stores. Everyone is in full on fall mode, and I just love this time of year! While I’m not ready for summer to end, the thought of cooler evenings and cozy blankets sounds kind of good 🙂

Today’s post is about 5 ways to get your wardrobe ready for fall. As we slowly move towards this new season, getting dressed can be a little tricky. It’s still warm during the day with the evenings cooling off quickly, so simply adding another layer will help you transition seamlessly. Read on to see what to add, and some new favorites I hope you’ll like!

P.S. We’ve had a little explosion of growth lately, so if you’re new around here and want to stay up to date on all things stylish and the bound-to-sell-out items we ALL need, then subscribe here and never miss a post! #1 Add a touch of animal print

Frame blouse | Mother denim | Schutz sandals | Gucci bag

Animal print looks great any time of year. Wear it now with white denim – love love love – and later add a darker jean and cozy cardigan. (Check out this recent post featuring a style board with these recs.) Since it’s pretty much a neutral at this point, find a piece or two you love, and you’ll have it for years, I promise. I adore the Frame blouse I’m wearing above, and the puff sleeve is a pretty detail. Also look at this dress, this skirt and this clutch.

# 2 Add the color camel — it always looks expensive!

Sophie cardigan | Black denim | Sandals, similar | Black t-shirt | Givenchy bag | Dior bracelets

Camel is the color that instantly adds sophistication and elegance to any outfit. It also makes your outfits look way more expensive! J.Crew has the best shade of camel; check out this cardigan, and this one too. A camel coat is SO luxurious, look at this one and this one — all great!

#3 Add a fall dress

Anthropologie dress | Gucci bag | Sandals | Sunglasses | Charlotte Tilbury lipstick | Poppy Finch necklace

There are so many great fall dresses that look fantastic now while the weather is still warm, and will look good later with a cozy cardigan! My N6 friend Sandy wore this Munthe dress recently, layered with this cardigan, as well as this Anthropologie dress everyone loved! Stacey, my other N6 friend tried this Ulla Johnson one — SO cute!

#4 New fall favorites at J.Crew

Frank & Eileen shirt | J.Crew denim skirt | Golden Goose sneaker | Red bag | Pearl choker

I love J.Crew (most of the time), and right now they look SO good!! Since my fun job includes “blog research,” I placed a big order that arrives tomorrow, so stay tuned because I’ll be reviewing what I bought. For a sneak peek at what’s coming, look at this dress (so versatile), this cashmere wrap dress (so sophisticated) and this quilted coat in black (so comfy). I also love this pink one!

#5 Find a boot you love — asap!

Cardigan | Gucci scarf | Madewell skinnies | Jimmy Choo boots | Fendi tote, older

I picked up these boots last year and wore them on all my days off. Super versatile and comfy, and they’re back in stock again this year. I believe in purchasing boots early in the season to allow a longer wearing time. See my faves below … all so good!
