This might be the best Fall denim trend yet!
With Copenhagen Fashion week kicking off on Monday, there’s no shortage of great street style inspo! It’s one of my favorite fashion weeks, and it’s definitely on my bucket list to actually go one day. But for now, I’ll just research and read about it on Vogue.com, Who What Wear and some of my other favorite fashion resources … and then share what I find with you! So, since every good outfit starts with denim, there’s one trend I’ve been watching and it’s going to be everywhere. Pretty sure you’re going to love it!
Today’s post is about this hot new trend: Indigo denim. Think neat, classic and sophisticated. No rips, no frayed bottoms, just clean and simple. Of course this doesn’t mean we should throw out our old ones — ripped, light wash and frayed hem jeans aren’t going anywhere! It’s just there’s a newcomer on the scene, and it’s exciting 🙂
The style that’s catching my eye right now is a high rise straight leg ,like this one by Frame and this one by DL 1961. Keep reading to see some of my best picks for you, some style board inspo, and a few other denim trends I’m sure you’ll love. As always, message me with any questions — I’m always happy to help!

Denim trends: Straight leg denim
This is THE style to add this fall: a high-rise, slim straight leg style. It’s flattering on everyone, and if you love your skinnies and can’t imagine moving on, this is a great style to start with. Today I asked my college graduate assistant if she’s still wearing skinnies and she said no, except for one pair with boots for fall. Great idea! Below are the best sellers and favorites.
Paige Cindy – good selection at Shopbop, Anthropologie and Nordstrom
Frame Le high straight – good selection at Shopbop, Frame and Nordstrom
Mother – good selection at Shopbop, Anthropologie and Nordstrom
Denim trends: Crop flare denim
Another style that everyone loves. Super flattering, and works with all kinds of shoes, from sandals to boots to heels. Below are the best sellers and my favorites.
7 for all Mankind – Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom
Mother – Nordstrom, Anthropologie and Shopbop
Frame – good selection at Frame and Nordstrom
Susie’s new additions
Although I do NOT need any new jeans, I do consider it part of my job to try new ones (!!) and in case you’re interested, these are the three I purchased recently.
Dark denim
This is the biggest trend for fall, and I think it’s safe to say most everyone likes a simple, clean dark pair of jeans. They’re perfect for work, and of course go with sneakers and everything casual. This style will update your entire fall wardrobe! I LOVE this DL 1961 style, and check out this one by Mother. Frame has an amazing selection here. You just can’t go wrong!

Grayish black denim
A grayish-black denim is super versatile, and it’s just as easy as all-black, except it’s a little softer. And, if you wear black jeans ALL THE TIME, this is a great option to switch it up!

Light wash denim
A faded light wash denim is great for summer with sandals, and super cool and stylish with black as we head into fall. My go-to favorite is this one below by Mother. Make sure to buy one full size down since they stretch.

The Leather look
Faux leather is such a cool look, and you can either do a vegan leather jean like the one below, all leather like these, or coated denim like these 7 for all Mankind (which I own and love) and are a fraction of the price. Wear faux leather with sneakers and a cozy sweater, or dress it up with a blazer and strappy sandals.

Off-white denim
People often ask … do I really need white AND off white? The answer is yes — they’re completely different! Though I read everywhere that it’s ok to wear white all year around, the truth is, I don’t. And while I wouldn’t go for écru denim on a rainy day, I certainly would on a crisp sunny day. Off-white with gray or camel is sophisticated and super chic! This pair by Paige is my personal favorite.

Solid black denim
A must-have in everyone’s wardrobe. I wore this pair of Levi’s all season long, and when the weather cools down, they’ll be the first ones I grab. If you’re going out and have nothing to wear, put on your favorite black blouse and a pair of black jeans and then any jacket or handbag works from there. Super simple and always stylish!
