This wardrobe basic suddenly became cool …
Last year, in the early spring, a new t-shirt started appearing on all the stylish fashion girls. It began with the ‘Eva’ t-shirt by the cult favorite Frankie Shop, and ended up all over Tik Tok and Instagram. There are several versions everywhere, including the ALLSAINTS one I’m wearing above (read a recent article in Vogue here). Now, I realize padded shoulders aren’t for everyone, but for the first time in a really long time, our beloved t-shirts are getting an update. I’m not talking about padded shoulders, so stay with me 🙂
Over the years I’ve noticed we are all in search of a great basic t-shirt (I wrote about it in my recent “Essentials” blog post), and I’m often asked about my favorites. So, today I’m devoting an entire blog post around this wardrobe staple that most of us wear regularly. If it sounds a little boring, I get it … but you’ll want to update and refresh your basic tees so YOU can be a stylish fashion girl 😉 Come shopping with me while I tour you around the store to see which tees are the ones to buy!

My new favorite updated tee by Frame!
It has been a long time since I’ve gotten really excited about a tee, but this one by Frame is so good! Not only is it a v-neck style, which is flattering on most everyone, it has a slight oversized fit, which makes it super cool … without the shoulder pads! If you prefer a round neck style, this one is also really good – I tried it on myself and it looks great.
ATM tees
These are long standing favorites of mine, and I just refreshed my own white one a few weeks ago. This tee is arm flattering, shaped yet forgiving, and hands down tops on my list. I’ve worn it with everything from denim to under a blazer to paired with a printed skirt. I highly recommend this one!
Rag & Bone tees
Rag & Bone always has some of the best tees, and this one called ‘the knit long sleeve’ is a stylist favorite. The shirt-tail hem makes it super flattering, and the drapey rayon/poly/stretch fabric is soft and comfy. The basic crew and v-neck tees are a nice weight, and everyone loves them. I just noticed this ribbed tank, which is another staple that was seen everywhere in the past couple of seasons!
Padded shoulder tees
The fashion forward tee to own that will update all your denim, trousers and skirts!
Puff sleeve tees
Puff tees are another super stylish style of tee to own. I love this one by Free People, and if you need a long sleeved version, this one is really good. While these aren’t really essentials, they sure are cute and add a feminine touch to all our outfits.
Graphic tees
I really can’t write a t-shirt post without including graphic tees! I keep telling myself no more, and then find another I can’t live without. They’re the perfect way to add a little interest to every outfit, so find one you love and wear it all the time! Some favorites include Anine Bing, Ganni and Daydreamer.
Turtlenecks
I recently read somewhere that the new Zoom outfit is a turtleneck and a necklace – hmmm. Still loving the second skin styles, because they look great layered under shackets, blazers or even crew neck sweaters! I recently purchased this Everlane style for $35, and I have my eye on this one!
Honorable mentions
The Madewell tees are top sellers. I find them to be a little thin, but they’re very well-priced. J.Crew also has some great basics, and pretty colors too — I get most of my striped tees from J.Crew. This Michael Stars one-size-fits-most tank is a personal favorite, I have it in 3 colors!
