When your place of work happens to be Nordstrom, and you’re a personal stylist, everyone and their mother thinks you might be the guiding light towards All Things Amazing in the store — and now online too!! Not a day goes by that at least one person doesn’t ask me “what’s your favorite [insert beauty product, jeans , dress … here]?” And the best mascara is without a doubt one of those topics I get asked about frequently. Everyone wants to know which mascara will give their lashes the most volume, curl, length, thickness, you name it. Well, after consulting with multiple beauty experts, reading Allure magazine’s “Best of Beauty” issue (as referenced in my Charlotte Tilbury post here), and asking friends whose lashes I admire, I’ve come up with a list of 8 that I think are the very best.
Mascara madness…What is it?
It’s the twice-yearly mascara event at Nordstrom, which allows you to stock up on all your favorite mascaras. Buy two and receive a third free (applies to the lowest price, of course). #1 Chanel Le Volume De Chanel mascara
This is the one I’m currently using, and I love it for the instant volume and its dark, intense black color. I use 10 Noir.
#2 Lancôme Définicils lengthening and defining mascara
This award-winning mascara does exactly what it says: lengthens and defines. I have been using this mascara regularly since college, and continue to use it to this day!
#3 Benefit They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing mascara
This long-wearing mascara doesn’t smudge and comes with a special brush that “reveals lashes you never knew you had.” I was first introduced to this mascara by my daughter, Emily – first time I ever stole anything from her!
#4 Too Faced better than sex waterproof mascara
Well I had to add this one to my cart, mainly because of what’s it’s called (wink). But according to the Allure Magazine beauty editors, it covers all the must-haves. “Put simply, it checks all the boxes: providing mega-volume without the clumping, inky-black color, without the smudging, and just the right amount of length.” I can’t wait to try it.
#5 Chantecaille Faux Cils longest lash Mascara
This is a beauty favorite at Nordstrom. It boasts the newest lash-growth peptide technology with the original, sought-after Faux Cils formula. I have this in my shopping bag, and I’ve heard it really works. It’s a little spendier then I’m used to, but I’ll do anything for thick, full lashes!
#6 Kevyn Aucoin beauty the volume mascara
Another Allure magazine beauty editor favorite. This formula is perfect for everyday wear. The Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara looks great without being clumpy, thanks to how fine the bristles are. Try it!
#7 Trish McEvoy high volume mascara
Another Nordstrom beauty favorite. It has a water resistant coating that revolves 360-degrees around your lash and it dries instantly and doesn’t smudge or smear. I’ve tried this one, and it comes off really easily for water resistant mascara.
#8 Dior diorshow waterproof mascara
Allure magazine says this is the perfect “go all-out glam mascara.” Everyone loves Dior mascara.
how to remove it all?
Are you removing mascara the correct way? Using something gentle like Bobbi Brown oil or Amore Pacific oil, which are both wonderful at taking it all off, gently.
