9 Summer Staples I’ll Be Styling With My Outfits

It’s hard to believe my partnership with Who What Wear is now just over six years old. It’s still such an honor to featured in their articles, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. Almost every month since 2020, my friend Bobby Schuessler, the Shopping Director at Who What Wear, has peeked at my Instagram — and he always has a few questions for me, which I love!

For this article, Bobby asked me to weigh in on which summer staples I’ll be styling with my outfits. Like many of you, I’m always on the lookout for wearable trends that elevate our basics. So, I rounded up some favorites that I think you’ll love! These pieces are modern and fresh, and will keep you looking updated. You’ll find everything from a coveted travel pant to the denim cut that’s about to be worn on repeat. I try really hard to keep you in the know 😉 Enjoy!

P.S. Today’s post is a recap from my latest WWW article, which you can read here. When the article first appears in WWW, the clothing selections are made by Bobby and his team (he also chooses the title). But, when I recap the article, the items shared are MY picks. I hope you like them!

#1 Drawstring Pants

Cropped trench | Soft white knit top | Aritzia lodge pants | Sandals | Away luggage

The drawstring pant is the summer piece you’ll wear on repeat. Effortlessly relaxed, easy to wear and so stylish—it has become one of my favorite warm-weather essentials. The one I highly recommend is the one I’m wearing above. It’s available in short, regular and tall lengths as well as several fabrications including creptette (my top rec), satin (new purchase and love) and linen which is perfect for summer.

#2 Flip Flops

Linen skirt | Black cotton cardigan | AGOLDE tank | Loewe bag | Flip flops, similar here | Sunglasses, similar

There’s something about a simple flip-flop that feels so right this summer. Whether you go for a jelly style or classic Havaianas, it’s an effortlessly cool finishing touch to any outfit. I’ll be wearing these all season long!

#3 Polo Tops

Frame polo top | White jeans | Raffia bag

Polo tops are having a major moment, and it’s easy to see why. After showing up on runways like Chanel and Celine, it’s officially the wardrobe staple of the summer. This top will work with shorts and jeans, and even a skirt — so easy and so chic!

#4 Loose, Light Wash Denim

ASTR jacket | Striped tank | Lemon Twist jeans | Veronica Beard sandals | Evereve belt | Sunglasses

Light-wash, loose jeans are my go-to right now, and for summer they feel just right!

#5 Tassels

Anthropologie Dress | Gold beaded sandals, cheaper version here | Raffia clutch | Sunglasses, similar

Not just boho anymore, the fringe and tassel micro-trend is showing up everywhere right now. From handbags to dresses to long necklaces and earrings, they’re a modern detail that adds a little movement to your look. This Anthropologie tassel dress is already on my packing list for my trip to Europe next month!

#6 Cobalt Blue

Simkhai dress | Raffia bag | Gold sandals

If you want to make a statement, this bright, bold color is the answer. There’s something about a vivid blue that feels so new and fresh! Seen on runways and in street style, a cobalt blue dress is the fashion choice of the moment.

#7 Midi Skirts

Cardigan | White skirt | Veronica Beard sandals | White bag | Sunglasses

I can’t think of a more quintessential summer staple than the midi skirt. The outfit possibilities are truly endless: pair with a simple tank and flat sandals, or dress it up for evening (like in the photo above). It’s the perfect summer piece.

#8 Woven Accessories

Madewell dress | Flip flops, similar here | Madewell tote

Woven bags and sandals are my favorite way to add texture to a summer outfit. They’re super versatile, very stylish, and they make everything look just a little more pulled-together.

Bonus: Embroidery/Eyelets

Black tank | Eyelet skirt | Sandals | Bucket bag

This delicate detail is showing up everywhere right now—from skirts to tops to denim—and I love every version of it. It’s super pretty, and an ideal way to lighten your look for summer.
