The New Spring Jean I Can’t Stop Wearing
I love denim so much! It has been one of my favorite categories to cover since Day One of writing this fun little blog. I genuinely believe we only need a handful of jeans, but I still find myself buying every Lil Mother, Frame Pixie, and any other cool denim fit that catches my eye. It’s like the thrill of the denim hunt — hoping to find “the one” that promises to do everything. We want our jeans to work for both day and night, make super stylish outfits, look and feel good … the list goes on. So, here’s the deal (learn from me): more jeans don’t equal better outfits, but having the right jeans really can be life outfit changing!
A few weeks ago, I spotted a new pair of Mother jeans. I almost didn’t try them because they looked loose and oversized on the hanger — but I’m so glad I did! Honestly, I haven’t been this excited about a pair of jeans in a really long time. The best part? They’re giving new life to my favorite wardrobe staples. For example, this Veronica Beard blazer suddenly feels modern again (I wore it here). They also look stylish with this new denim jacket I’ve been wearing on repeat, not to mention my brocade jacket, and this relaxed trench. Basically, they’ve given my entire wardrobe a refresh! I’ve been wearing them every other day since they arrived, and I even went back for a lighter wash that’s already getting just as much use.
Today’s post is about this jean you won’t stop wearing, along with new season denim trends that are worth knowing about. For example, the barrel leg jean is still part of every fashion editor’s wardrobe. Same with dark wash jeans, écru and/or white, and a few others. Keep reading to see all the styles worth adding to your closet, and some brand new style board inspo. Cheers!

Mother Lemon Twist jeans – these are the new jeans I’m so excited about. And so is everyone else, because they keep selling out! The twisted seam gives them a unique look and trust me, they’ll make every outfit that much cooler. For reference, I sized down, but that’s because I wanted them to be a little more fitted. If you prefer a looser look, go with your regular size.

#1 Why Barrel-leg Jeans are Still the Silhouette of Choice
Trench jacket | Stripe tee | Barrel jeans | Sunglasses | Gucci sandals | Bottega clutch
This cool denim silhouette is still one of the hottest denim trends this spring, and they were seen everywhere during all the recent fashion weeks. They’re surprisingly easy to style, and similar to above, these jeans will make all your spring wardrobe staples that much cooler! Recently someone asked me if petites can wear barrel-leg jeans. Of course it’s a personal choice, but generally speaking, I think they’re tricky for those of us on the petite side. Below are some best-selling styles to consider:
Mother Half-Pipe | Frame Bow | Paige Ariella | Madewell Darted barrel | Madewell Darted Barrel | J.Crew Zoe
#2 White or Ecrù Jeans are a Wardrobe Essential
Frame denim jacket | Stripe top | White Lax jeans – petites here | Sandals | Earrings | Jelly clutch
In my opinion, white (or écru) jeans are the key to making cute spring outfits. Yes, it can be tricky to find the right ones, but it’s worth the effort. Lately, I’ve been wearing these new Mother écru ones on repeat, and the wider leg is updated and flattering. Of course, the Mother Hustlers have been one of my go-to pairs for years — and they’re still best sellers. For a more fashion forward style, check out this wide leg style and this longer length one. Oh, and don’t forget your thong — a must for white jeans!
Ecru options: Madewell Darted Barrel | Mother Barrel | Frame Saturday | Paige Anessa | Frame Le Slim Palazzo
White options: Mother crop jeans | Frame Le Sleek ankle | Frame Rodeo | Paige skimmer petites | Madewell long straight leg
#3 Loose Faded Jeans are Perfect for Spring
J.Crew cardigan | Frame eyelet popover top | Frame Off-Duty Stroll jeans | Gucci sandals | Earrings | J.Crew clutch
Longer, looser jeans are so perfect for warmer weather, and I always picture them with pretty white tops, flip flop sandals with raffia bags. Throw a cardigan over your shoulder and you have the perfect spring & summer outfit. Below are some other options:
Rag & Bone Featherwright | Rag & Bone Miramar track pant | Frame Hang | Frame Loose
#4 Lower rises are back
Frame trench, coming soon | Yellow sweater | Frame Rodeo jeans | Slingbacks | Earrings | Bag
Don’t be scared (!!) but lower rises are back! I’m not talking about the crazy low rises from the early 2000s, so let me explain! I think since we’ve seen so many high rises in the past few years, anything with a lower rise is falling in the “low-rise” category. But really, the jeans I’m talking about are more mid-rise. Consider 81/2 to 9″ a mid-rise. These Rodeo jeans above have been a personal favorite and they fit so well and feel modern. I popped into the Rag & Bone store yesterday in Aspen, and I was told the Saige jean is selling out! Click here to see the Saige jean in the Miramar fabric. Currently these are my two recommendations.
#5 Dark Washes are Everywhere
Cardigan | Blue shirt | Le Slim Palazzo jeans | Scarf | Sandals | Tory Burch bag
Dark wash jeans are slimming, classic and always look good. I’ve been seeing them everywhere lately, and I recently splurged on this pair of Khaite jeans. To lighten them up for this time of year, I love pairing them with caramel and raffia accessories. One little style tip: try to pick up on the stitching color of the denim with your accessories. It’s a subtle way to make the whole outfit feel more intentional and polished! Below are some of my current dark-wash favorites. Below are some other options:
Mother Twist | Paige Anessa | Mother Kick It | Frame bootcut
