My NYFW Packing List: Fall Outfits That Always Work!
This week I’m headed to NYC for Fashion Week, and I’ve been in serious outfit planning mode! I’m bringing my daughter Emily along, and we have a few fun NYFW events lined up, as well as brand meetings and dinners. The plan is to do a little “blog research,” which is code for trend shopping and people watching. And then, just in time for the weekend, Jake (my little sewing/designing genius) will be flying in to meet us! It’s all very exciting, and I always return home on idea overload, excited to share everything I learned with you.
Today’s post is about the fall outfits I’m packing for this trip. There’s everything from travel day, shopping and dinner outfits to cocktail party attire and more! The past few weeks, I’ve been placing orders left and right, making sure I have the best pieces to make super stylish outfits. Keep reading to see how it has all come together, and hopefully you’ll get a little inspo along the way.
P.S. I’m not a packing expert, and as you’ll see below, I have way too many things. This trip is all about option, so I’ll be bringing two large suitcases. During the day it’s usually jeans, layers and comfortable shoes. The weather looks like it will be in the 70s, which means I’ll likely be wearing sweaters over my shoulders, and the trench might be only for the evenings.
Cocktail Parties

There are two cocktail parties on the schedule, and I’ll probably wear the two dresses above. I also picked up this gorgeous Halston, and that’s a good option too. Others I considered include this brown silky Staud dress, this striped one, and this polka dot one from Anthropologie.
Business Dinners

I’m so excited to be joining Bobby Schuessler, the Senior Editor at Who What Wear, for dinner. We’ve been friendly for five years, chatting over email and Instagram, and this will be our first time meeting in person. There’s always a fine line between being dressed up but not looking over-the top, which is the balance I’m trying to strike with my business dinner outfits.
Brand Meetings

We’re going to a spring launch for Alice & Olivia, and since it’s a favorite brand, I’m really excited to see the new collection. Dresses I’m considering include this red one, or this blue print one with a matching cardigan. On the same day, an outfit change will be necessary since we’re going to the Veronica Beard showroom, and I haven’t yet decided what to wear yet. But of course, I’ll keep you posted!
