Spotted in NYC: The Outfit Trends Defining Summer
This past week, I spent a few days in NYC trend shopping and doing “blog research.” These trips are always inspiring, and I return home on idea overload, excited to share everything with you. This visit, I wandered through the city getting coffee at Ralph’s, trend shopping on Fifth Avenue, and eating lunch at Balthazar. Thankfully on the last day, the sun came out and temps got warm, and everyone switched to full-on summer outfits that were super stylish! Think full length denim, longer midi-style dresses, flip flops and great accessories.
Today’s post is about trends I spotted in NYC that are defining summer in the city. There was one brand that stood out by far, along with a color that was in every collection. You’ll also see some shopping highlights, get tips on which items to buy from your favorite brands, and see a few recent purchases. I covered a lot of ground in four days! Lately I’ve been staying at Fouquet’s in Tribeca, which cleverly combines French sophistication with casual comfort. If you love smaller boutique hotels, I highly recommend this one. There are always beautifully dressed people coming and going — ideal for blog research!

Most of the people I saw were wearing practical sandals, and many had little embellishments or ties. So chic, and super stylish.

My first stop was at the French department store Printemps, which is brand new to NYC. Talk about a shopping experience! Everything was beautifully merchandised, and the designer collections were next level. Of course, everything is better when shopping with champagne, and the cute little bar cart wandering around the store found its way to me! So naturally I indulged, and spent a fun hour or so poking around the store.
Purchased this new perfume and body oil called Portofino, which smells amazing
Went to the Rag & Bone store, which looked so good, and picked up this denim dress – use code SUSIE20 for 20% off sitewide
Stopped by Saks and came home with this polka dot dress, this terry knit polo top and matching skirt, and xxx
