This Week’s 5: What’s Trending In LA
Happy Friday! This week, I’m launching a new series called “This Week’s 5.” In this short guide, I’ll be sharing my thoughts on everything from what’s trending in fashion to styling tips to things that have caught my eye recently. The goal is to keep it short and super useful, like a quick reference for the week. I hope you’ll like it!
During our trip to see what’s trending in LA, I was inspired by all the cool girls working at the Frame Denim HQ. Talk about effortlessly chic! The pieces they were wearing were simple and stylish, and super versatile. We toured the Atelier and learned about pattern making and what’s coming for the new season. Keep reading to see some of the pieces we saw while out and about in LA, and some styling tips on how to pull it all together!

#1 Trench Coats
If you buy one thing this season, make it a trench coat! It’s the one item that every fashion girl is wearing, from LA to Paris to NYC. Try a looser, long length coat in a neutral color like soft white or tan — it’s a year ’round staple. Shorter lengths are also trending, and they’re equally as versatile.

Loving Mango right now, look at this and this
For shorter trench jackets, check out this new Frame one, or this one that’s back in stock
For longer, looser ones, look at this Favorite Daughter one — I shared some style boards in this post
#2 Ballet Flats
Margaux denim ballet flats | Repetto ballet flats
If you’re looking for an always classic flat shoe, then ballet flats should be on your radar! I’ve been seeing black flats in combination with ankle flare black pants, and the whole look is super chic. I also love them with dresses, shorts and of course, denim. You can go all out and grab a Chanel pair, or look for more affordable options from brands like Margaux and Reppeto.
Other options
This classic brand in any color
The brand Margaux has several color options, including my favorite: denim
For designer-inspired ones, look at these Sam Edelman ones, these Vince ones or these quilted ones
#3 Oversized Blazer
When looking for an oversized blazer, try a slightly oversized style in a lighter weight fabric for spring and summer. For an elevated look, pair it with wide-leg faded jeans, longer denim skirts, or dresses. Think simple styling with fun accessories, like sculptural earrings and a statement belt.
Other options
Love this Aritzia one, and it’s petite friendly
Zara makes the best blazers, look at this butter yellow one, this pretty pink one, and this ecru blazer
For a designer-inspired piece, you can’t go wrong with a Reiss blazer — they fit so nicely
#4 Faded Floor Length Jeans
For a cool girl fashion jean, look for looser faded blue jeans. They’re perfect for summer, and you can wear them with oversized blazers, pretty white blouses, or your favorite button-up. Always so effortlessly chic!
Other options
Frame favorites include this new Lax style (petites here) and this Loose style
Mother has this pair that everyone loves
Paige makes their best-selling Anessa that’s flattering on everyone
#5 Cool Belts
Ivory belt | Studded belt | Black belt
Belts have made a huge comeback this year, and I’ve written about them several times (like in this recent post). I hadn’t been thinking about them as much lately until the Frame merchandiser had one similar to this peeking out of her black blazer and denim shorts.
Other options
Still recommending the Khaite belt, and affordable options are here and here
