9 Warm Weather Essentials To Buy Before Spring

Since we’re at the beginning of a season, now is a good time to start making a list of warm weather essentials that will help complete your outfits. I always recommend pieces that can be worn at least three ways. It’s the key to building a great wardrobe, and helps keep us focused on the items that really matter!

This year, I was lucky to travel to warm weather destinations in the off season. Between “blog research” and people watching for style inspo, I spotted some modern trends that are wearable and easy to incorporate into our current wardrobes. This includes simple pieces like denim skirts, cotton shirts and matching sets you’ll wear all season long. Keep reading to check out what I wore on a recent trip to Mexico, plus some new picks to help you stay on-trend for the upcoming season!

1. Comfy Travel Outfits: Start Here!

Many of us have some travel planned in the near future, so having an easy travel outfit or two on hand makes it easier to get ready. If you want to be extra comfy, I always suggest the flare pants from lululemon or the Frame Jetset jeans. Sometimes I wear faded blue jeans when traveling, and just yesterday arrived in Miami wearing these super soft and stretchy Mother jeans (available in petite sizess here).

2. Dresses, Dresses, and More Dresses

Everyone should consider a new dress or two when we start moving toward warmer weather. They’re easy and super stylish. Look for styles you can dress up or down for added versatility. They’re ideal for travel too! Right now, I’m loving Alemais and Farm Rio dresses, as well as casual styles like this one at Tuckernuck. They’ll come in handy once spring rolls around.

3. Denim Skirts

Denim skirts are still trending in 2025, and there are many options to choose from. Pair with sneakers or sandals for a casual but elevated look. Love this L’Agence one that comes in several colors, it’s an all-time favorite. Also look at this ecru one by Veronica Beard. Both are super versatile, and I’m certain you’ll wear them all season long … and even into summer!

4. Short-Sleeved Cotton Shirts

Buying a short-sleeved, cotton top to wear with denim skirts, jeans or shorts is worth the investment. I wore this one on repeat, and now it’s back again this season. Highly recommend a couple of simple cotton shirts for travel to a warm weather climate. You’ll make dozens of outfits with this one piece!

5. Matching Sets

Matching sets are super comfy and easy, and are actually perfect for sightseeing. You can layer a tee or a tank under, and if it gets too warm, just throw the top over your shoulders—so chic and practical! I really like the Spanx AirEssentials collection. Varley also has great options — look at this half zip and these shorts that I wore all summer. Also love this blue color on pre-order at Neiman Marcus — check it out here.

6. Raffia Bags

Raffia continues to gain momentum as the perfect spring and summer neutral. A light, versatile material, raffia accessories go with pretty much every single item in your closet. Bonus: they add a little texture to every warm weather outfit.

7. White Jeans (or écru)

I always recommend a white or écru jean refresh — every season. If you love white denim but wear it frequently, it can get a little worn looking a year later. This season, look for longer length styles like this. Also consider écru denim – it always looks sophisticated. Currently loving this pair, this pair, and this pair.

8. Cover-Ups & Swimsuits

Elan coverup dress | Sandals | Dior tote | La Blanca swimsuit

If you have a tropical vacation coming up, a stylish cover-up and go-with-everything swimsuit are essentials. Sheer dresses like this, linen button-downs like this, and sarongs like this will easily take you from the pool or beachside to pre-dinner cocktails. A cover-up is the perfect transition piece!

9. Sandals: the perfect warm weather shoe ☀️

More comfy than heels and more elevated than flip flops, sandals are the ideal warm weather shoe. And, you have so many options to choose from! You can wear them with pretty much any outfit all through spring and summer, and even into fall depending on where you live. Also, they’re easy to pack because they’re flat, and if you pick neutral colors, you can mix and match, making them a true travel essential (unless you’re going skiing 😂). Sandals are pretty much the perfect shoe.
