Here Are My Favorite Purchases of 2024!
Six years ago, when I started this little online fashion journey, I was devouring every podcast, YouTube video, and blog post possible. I wanted to do my own research. One of the first things I listened to was the “How I Built This” podcast. It was the episode with Emily Weiss, founder of Glossier. She wasn’t a beauty artist or a businesswoman initially, and wasn’t proclaiming to know everything. However, since she was doing many photo shoots, she was discovering amazing makeup products that, in her words, were “too good not to share.”
Well, that’s exactly how I feel. When I started this little adventure, I was a personal stylist working out of “Room 3” at Nordstrom, helping clients one-on-one with whom I had built relationships over years. It was a dream job, and I loved every minute of it. When a new arrival would roll in, if it was good and I loved it, all the clients I helped that day went home with it as well! It was too good not to share … and that’s what this blog is all about.
Today’s post is about my favorite purchases of 2024. I like to feature items that are bound to sell out, that will stand the test of time, and that will help you all get dressed every day and feel stylish and confident. For this post, I walked around my house looking at everything from the coffee table book to my favorite new chandelier to all the cool things in my closet, and have included them. This has been my most fun post to write so far, and I hope you enjoy it too! Happy ten days before Christmas ❤️ Susie xx
Dresses I Wore on Repeat in 2024
Left: Frank & Eileen Mary dress | Naghedi tote | Middle: Pink t-shirt | Denim skirt | Slingbacks | Right: Anthropologie Tommie dress
Frank & Eileen Mary dress – Hands down, this was the dress I wore and loved the most. Someone once commented on Instagram that it looked like a tent on me, but oh well — it’s comfortable, comes in a bunch of colors, and everyone I know absolutely loves it! (Hey — if you love it, wear it ) My favorite colors are denim blue and white, but really you can’t go wrong with any of them.
Anthropologie Tommie dress – This casual cotton dress comes in several different colors. A touch sexy due to the zipper and nipped in waist, this is a style you can wear many different places. I noticed it’s available in a black lace for holiday, and also in gorgeous red and stunning white.Quince linen smocked dress – Linen was a thing last summer, and it will continue into 2025. This midi style dress was super comfortable, and often I wore a sweater over my shoulders. At $69.90, this is a deal!
L’Agence denim skirt – Since 2024 was the year of the skirt, I went along with it, wearing this denim skirt non-stop. I just checked and it’s back in stock, and now there’s a medium wash available as well. It goes with everything, and skirts are another category that will continue to trend in 2025.
Denim, Denim and More Denim
Photo 1: Frame Gillian top | Le Slim Palazzo | Photo 2: Frame Gillian | Frame flare jeans | Photo 3: Paige Anessa | Photo 4: Lil’ Mother petite denim | Trench
Frame Le Slim Palazzo – Not only are these the number one selling jean at Frame, they’re also one of my personal favorites! Since they’re a current style, they’ll give all your tops and jackets a little update. Highly recommend.
Frame flare jeans – These longer length jeans are super flattering, leg lengthening and easy to wear. They come in petite sizing here, and regular sizes here. These are in my regular rotation.
Paige Anessa – This jean is really similar to the Frame Le Slim Palazzo and is a top seller. It’s also available in lots of colors, and I even spotted a petite size here.
Lil’ Mother jeans – Drumroll … these have been a game changer for those of us under 5’4″ so I decided to go all out and be in “testing” mode. Favorite fits include: Insider – petite sizes here, Hustler in Not Guilty (wear pretty much every day), and this non petite pair I just picked up in gray. Reminder, these all come in regular sizes too.
2024: The Year of Sparkly Things
Left: VB white top | Rag & Bone Peyton jeans | Necklaces: here, here and here | Right: Velvet jewelry box | Zoe Chicco necklace top right | Shop the board here
Zoë Chicco – I treated myself to this necklace about a year ago, and talk about cost per wear! I haven’t taken it off 😌 The last time I loved a necklace this much is when I wore this Gigi Clozeau daily. The Zoë has the right amount of everyday sparkle and it layers with everything. Oh and btw, use code SUSIE15 for 15% off!
Velvet Jewelry Box – The designer Sophie Bille Brahe not only makes pretty jewelry, but she also designs the most gorgeous jewelry boxes. The day I brought mine home, I knew it would hold a special spot in my closet. Look at the other colors here.
Shoes & Bags
Left: TWP blazer | ATM tee – on sale today! | Frame flare jeans | RIght: Ba&Sh leather jacket | Mother Hustler Roller jeans | Stuart Weitzman boots | Bottega bag
Staud Wally boot – This low-heeled suede boot has been my go-to the past couple of months. It’s updated, modern and comfortable. When it comes to black boots, I’ve also loved this year’s Stuart Weitzman boot – the heel is a little lower this year and it’s also super comfortable. I highly recommend both!
Gucci Loafers – I bought these on a whim at London Heathrow airport and then they sat in my closet, and I was having buyer’s remorse. When I finally started wearing them this fall, I realized how versatile and cool they are! I love the black sole, the color goes with everything and now I love them. While mine are no longer available, this newer version is, which I prefer over mine — the “Gucci” logo is a little much 😉
More Shoes & Bags
Havaianas black slim flip flop with gold trim – I picked up these $30 flip flops in Italy, and ended up wearing them the whole trip. The gold detail adds a little extra, and they’re worth every penny!
Goyard green tote – Hands down, this has been a favorite tote! I thought about this one for over a year, and even waited in an hour long line in Paris, but left empty handed. It was worth the wait because this is a good one. It’s easy to pack, durable, classic and a style you’ll have for years to come. I found a few options at Fashionphile, and of course, you can always get one at the Goyard store. Loewe straw tote – After seeing this tote on every cool girl on Instagram, I went for it. This is another classic straw bag, and there are a few color options — all are good.
Travel Faves
Left: Frank & EIleen travel set | Beis Weekender | Right: Lululemon Softstreme 1/2 zip and matching pant
Mini Beis Weekender – I’ve gone on and one about this bag, but this year decided to try the mini one, and now it’s the only one I’ll travel with. While the larger one holds even more, it was starting to get a little heavy when lugging it through the airport 😂
Travel cashmere slippers and silk robe – These are a recent find, and now I’ll never travel again without the slippers. Super cozy, and take no room in your suitcase. If you’re like me and the hotel robes are WAY too hot, then you’ll love this silk robe. And, it’s half off right now!
Cute little Rimowa – This was a crazy splurge, and I went for the smallest carryon size which hardly holds anything, but it rolls so so smoothly, and I just really love it
Frank & Eileen travel set – Here’s another thing I’ve gone on and on about, but specifically the Milan set is my favorite. It’s perfect for running errands, traveling or just wanting to be comfy. The jacket makes you feel a little more put together
Lululemon Softstreme – I just discovered this recently. As the name implies, it’s soft, comfy, perfect for travel and for wearing on the weekends. Now I have my eye on this pink one. Highly recommend anything from this collection
Jackets: because you can never have too many
Left: Kinross wool/cashmere jacket | Middle: Barbour jacket | Jeans | Boots | RIght: Vince bomber jacket | Spanx pants
Kinross wool/cashmere jacket – This might be one of my all time favorite purchases! In Feb 2017, I photographed this jacket in black on my first-ever photo shoot. Since then, I’ve worn it frequently. Once on a Nordstrom 6 trip, my tall friend Danielle was wearing it too! So, last month when I spotted it in navy, I knew it would get lots of wear. It’s a splurge, but I consider it a “forever” piece.
Vince bomber jacket – This cozy little jacket works nicely with pants (above), leggings, denim, and even over a dress. There are a few sizes left here and here.
Barbour Beadnell field jacket – When I read about barn jackets trending, I knew I should try one. Well, I’ve worn this jacket every other day since. It’s a good one and comes in several colors here and here.
Best Tops of 2024
Left: Frame popover top | Mother Hustler | Schutz sandals | Middle: Frame Gillian | Frame flare jeans | Right: Quince linen dress | Quince $50 cashmere over shoulders
Frame popover top – This simple cotton top has been one of my all time favorite tops, and I now have it in three colors. That’s rare for me! A friend of mine also purchased it, and she couldn’t believe how many compliments she received. If you haven’t tried this one yet, now might be the right time — while it’s in stock.Cashmere hoodie – Hands down, another piece I recommend highly. It layers under everything, it’s super comfortable and it’s a wardrobe staple that I think everyone should have.
TWP shirting – Talk about a cool-girl shirt, this splurge top is amazing, and gives all your jeans an update! I wore this red stripe all summer long, and now I’ve seen it in several versions, including a basic white and a few others here
Quince $50 cashmere – This is another one I’ve gone on and on about, but there’s a reason! For $50, you just can’t find anything better. I’ve worn mine over and over again, and I really can’t tell the difference between this one or the J.Crew ones that are double the price
Splurge Gucci cardigan – For whatever reason, I decided to splurge on this cardigan, justifying to myself I’d have it for years and years. It was a special gift for reaching a goal, so it also has special meaning. I ended up wearing it all summer, either on or over my shoulders. So, if you’re up for a self-gifting splurge, this is a good one!
Pretty Things for Your Home
Left: Shell mirror | Basket tray | Right: John Derian book
Visual Comfort lighting – Since I’ve been doing a main floor refresh, I’ve added a few new lights from Visual Comfort Lighting, and I love them! This big lamp, this chandelier, these taller buffet lamps and these cabinet lights are all amazing
Coffee Table Books – I have a love affair with beautiful coffee table books, and picked up the new John Derian book that has tearable pages so you can frame anything you like. Also picked up this Italy book and this New York Carlyle book after having tea there with a friend, they’re both gorgeous!
Everyday plates – I decided to get some non-chipped grown up plates 😂 and after taking way too long to decide, landed on these from Williams Sonoma. Love.
